  1. So how does that Kona ride and handle?
  2. I used Cont Race king front and back for most of last year, very nice only if you run them soft on rocky stuff the puncture easy Have changed to Bont XR1 Team issue very very nice done just over 1000km on them and good but much lower volume 1.9 so harder ride Ran all above tubeless, first with Stan's and then changed to NO More Flats last week so far so good, looks thicker than stans
  3. Very nice Kletterer, what is the final weight? and cost if i can ask?
  4. Only down side of that kit is the weight of the cranks!!
  5. I have been to like 3 diff sites to help calculate the spoke lengths for a wheel build but not sure what values to enter, these are the hubs i have: http://www.novatec.com.tw/novatec/english/p_show.php?sid=268 and http://www.novatec.com.tw/novatec/english/p_show.php?sid=269 and making use of AM Classic 29" rims, the values on the rim are 29" and 598, 22mm If anybody can help it would be great. Thanks
  6. Is it possible to fit a Shimano free body on a Campy Shamal wheel? If possible, how hard to find a free body that fits and what price?
  7. Would say for XC 40/26 is best and for more marathon stuff 42/28 should be fine - then you can change the back depending on the terrain - 11-32 or 11-34 or even 12-36 for the SLX shimano cassette me thinks
  8. Have done the 2x9 conversion on my XTR M970 using the PMP rings and still going strong 40/28 and 11-32 for my 26". Then just about a week ago did my Stylo carbon 40/28 for my 29er with 11-34 making use of the Starbike TA Specialtes rings , best shifting i have had - got 2 sets of 40, and 1x28 and 1x26 with courier cost R1300 odd bucks. Instead of the spacers etc. easier to get the shorter bolts for the 104 ring from probolt.co.za bit high at R35 per bolt but works real good
  9. As per what Rock said, move the chain to 'new' big blade then turn the limit screw until you can only shift down and back up once, the screw will stop you from using the next 'click' in the shifter
  10. I run a 40/28 and 11-34 on the 29er and 40/28 11-32 on my 26". Normal 104/64 BCD crank with TA Specialites chain rings from www.starbike.com have used the PMP chainrings and they also work very well
  11. What mm is that pipe JB?
  12. Hi, Any body know what LBS in JHB North has a Alu frame rivvet tool, used to take out bottle cage fixtures and redo them as mine has come loose and one is stripped..??

  15. My first 29er, got it friday affie finished build @ 11pm and raced it to 2 x top 5 pos this weekend, now to refine it. Not that detailed pics with cellphone, just under 11kg from the electronic bathroom scale, thanks wayne
  16. Thanks for all the info. I started the process but when there was no bolts and the DT Swiss manual was not 100% clear, i took it to Anton B at Summit cycles and he did a good job thanks. It seems you need a specific tool for one section inside the hub, the rest basically pulls apart and all the bearings are sealed - they needed to be replaced and there was some sticky thick grease on the spawls.
  17. Had a look last night there are no nuts on the drive side to remove, do you need a special tool or am i missing something..!?!?
  18. Wow, thanks been lots of info and i shall try the service tonight. Thanks
  19. Hi, anybody got any details on servicing of a DT Swiss hub, feels like the freebody slips every now and then it needs to engage!?!?
  20. Check out www.extralite.com they make really good stuff and their hubs are very very light - they also sell complete wheels.
  21. Cool thanks, what does the frame weigh and what wheels did you put on then?
