  1. They might earn more..... but they have burglar bars on their cars, their handlebars and on their helmets.... They also have to ride faster because there is a better chance of getting driven over, stabbed at a stop street or sold ear piece for their nokia 6210 while waiting for the robot to go green.... Ohh they also live in Gautang so the can COME to the Cape for Christmas! But having said that they do earn twice what people earn everywhere else!

Well done to Malcolm, at the end of the day David would have been riding for third if another MTN had come across.... Thats Bike racing.... How many times have riders been the strongest but finished second.... You need to ride with more than your legs.... Remember when Stephen Roche and Claude Criqulion in '87 and Moreno Argintine beat them both! Remember Mo Fondriest sat on to win '88 Worlds Remember Adri Van der Poel beat kelly '86 Flanders Remember....... Malcolm Lange beat David George!
  3. The whole haemocrat thing is very difficult to assertain wheather its 50% as a high normal value, somewhere someone will always have abnormal values, the fairest way would be to moniter a rider from the time he/she turns professional, AND where there are abnormal increases in a short period ie 3-6 months then the values could be examined. Cunego could well have a high natural level as did Mr. Armstrong The thing about Indurain and Lance is that they were Physically and Mentally stronger than their contemperies from their respective generations. A great read is Paul Kimmages Rough Ride He was the first to open his Lunchbox and share stories of the Peleton, a bitter resentful wounded ex-pro bent on exposing the Pro Peleton and what was really happening.... some excellent stories in there... Riders named. He was give quite a rough treatment by his fellow riders and left the sport to become a jounalist.... a good one at that! Another I left off the list is Laurent Brochard, that guy.....!
  4. Is it a disgrace and on the other side a good thing all these admissions Lets face it.... Riis went from being a no-one to winning the tour in two years, I remember he was out of a contract with a certain Italian team "Ariostia" Remember Gergio Furlan" 1 SEASON WONDER! the year they got a 1-2-3 in Liege? Made everyone look like they were Juniors... well Riis obviously got hold of the magic and promptly lifted his preformances....funny how all his old team mates before he went to Telkom have all been positive... Laurent Dufaux, Pascal Richard Probably the two most well known.. What sucks most, is that RIIS stated he trained harder was more dedicated and sacrificed more than anyone else... this may be true and is probably how he got his name "Mister 60%" Clean Riis= average to good domestique, which he was at SystemU Dirty Riis= Tour de France Champion Looking at the results from the 90's here are a few of our hero's!!! Richard Virenque Theirry Claveyrolat Uwe Ampler Gert Jan Thuneiss Djamolidine Abdujaparov (abdu) Marco Pantini Franscisco Casagrande Bjet Zberg Oscar Camizined Laurent Jalebert Johann Museeue Bjarn Riis Jan Ulrich So the question is who tells Miguel Indurain he would have won 6 Tours had Bjarne not been going as fast?
  5. There sure is! soon to be a few more!
  6. The FBD milk Ras took place in Ireland over the last week, the Irish National Team had all their equipment stolen mid way through the race, including team bikes, spare bikes as well as the Riders bikes from their trade teams. The riders had to borrow bikes from other teams to finish the race.
  7. With the Nationals just around the corner, who will win the revelant categories? Elite u/23 sub vets Vets 50
  8. Fantastic..... Its a tribute to Barry Austin too, but John Lee definitly has an Engine that when put unter pressure preforms very well indeed Well done Barloworld on the season so far, cant wait for Barloworld to be confirmed for the tour
  9. Can you believe it..... Now if there is no fire..... why has Ivan Basso decided to leave "Discovery" this along with Tyler Hamilton and Jorg Jaske suspensions from Tinkof? Im very tired of it all... get rid of the everyone associated with "DR EVIL" and operation Perato No 2 years..... Life, fine, all winnings returned. We want a clean sport, no comebacks, no excuses.
  10. Ehh I wanted to believe it, Barry v David but ehh it was a no contest.... Barry showed the field a lesson in "Who's the MAN" winning by about 4 mins from Kevin Evans and 15mins from David George. Far too technical for the roadie, on a slippery course. But have to hand it to David for taking on the best in a National. It will take a few more days on single track before he cracks those Jumps!
  11. I have also read some other fantastic acolades in the past.... "climbing sensation" "probably the best stage race rider in south africa" Time Trial specialist" ..............................mmmmmmm Ahh......As Mr kennedy would say Read 2006 ladies season report....... From WWE........... ......Mrs Conradie...MONEY IN THE BAG.......
  12. Just for Fun the FULL race report...... The annual Wilro 100 Cycle Race took place on the weekend and it was Ronel van Wyk (Konica-Minolta) who showed all the ladies a clean pair of wheels by coming in solo to win the 105km event. On a very cold autumn morning a surprisingly big group of ladies started just outside Maropeng. Most of the teams made it to the start line and included Proline, Konica-Minolta, Cycle Lab/Super Cycling and CBIST. The pace was relative relaxed for the first 30km as the mostly downhill route did not allow any attacks to get gaps on the bunch. As the girls hit the uphill drags on the outskirts of Magaliesburg, Konica-Minolta decided to start attacking the bunch, and although they only have two riders racing in South Africa at the moment, they quickly split the bunch. Only a small group stayed together on the climb out of Magaliesburg ? Van Wyk and Cherise Taylor (both Konica-Minolta), Engela Conradie and Robyn de Groot (both Proline), Alti Clark and Kim Rose (Cycle Lab/Super Cycling), Elsa Karsten, Jeanine Binneman and Lizanne Naude (all CBIST) and Lisa Vermaak. The leading group quickly opened a gap on the rest of the field. Conradie unfortunately started cramping at the 55km mark and had to drop of the leading group. Konica-Minolta continued to ride aggressively and eventually Van Wyk, who was the strongest on the day, got a gap on the leading bunch. The girls in the leading group did not respond and looked at each other to close the gap and this gave Van Wyk the advantage she needed. She put her head down and time-trailed away from the leading group. The gap quickly grew to more than two minutes while Clark tried a couple of attacks to get away from the group and close the gap on Van Wyk but try as they liked, although all the teams were present, they could not close the gap. As the finished approached Van Wyk knew she had the race won and came in solo to take a very dominant win. Taylor, her teammate, made it another successful day for the team by taking second and Karsten rounded out the podium in third.
  13. Goodness Engela Conradie! You have to give the girl credit for self publicity, but no one gives a rats ASS wheather she cramped or got dropped(more likely) but obviosly it had a major impact on the race outcome. Quoted from the Cradle classic race report: The leading group quickly opened a gap on the rest of the field. Conradie unfortunately started cramping at the 55km mark and had to drop of the leading group. Konica-Minolta continued to ride aggressively and eventually Van Wyk, who was the strongest on the day, got a gap on the leading bunch
