I've always wondered if the road climbing is the same as the MTB climbing.

I will check for a HRM now @ CWC! One other thing i have checked is - on a Sunday afternoons when I take a ride after lunch i feel full of stamina going uphill. Is it because of the huge intake of carbs, starch & Sunday lunch food my wife makes? After work in the afternoons I sometimes feel rundown when getting to the hills @ Stellenbosch mountains. Should I try and eat something before the ride or what. Thanx for the other advice.

Is it ok to take a short rest after a steep uphill? I find myself feeling a bit tired after going non stop until the top where it levels out! What am I doing wrong

It does ride nice. I went to work with my bike today and could feel the change.Will be taking my baby up to the mountain on Thursday after work. One last training ride before the race on Saturday. Doing the 30KM in the Burger mountain bike Challenge. First race ever. Close buddy of mine he's a Bike nut. Very nice dude and he knows his stuff. I think he's been working on bikes for a good couple of years now!

Consider it bought and fitted. The lock out is a bit funny. This morning on my way to Work I locked her up and it stayed locked. Read on the internet this morning that the remote-lockout is a bit crappy. but My bike tech will fix it tonight and it will be on the handle bar for show only. Pity though.... It's a air fork. It has remote lockout. So I should get it then?

Would it be worth it to replace my rock shox Dart3 shock with a Manitou Skareb shock? Can get it @ a good price!

So what does one do be for a mountain bike race like Die Burger mountain bike challenge. Should i still train hard up until thursday or should one just take it easy?

Thanx I spoke to my bike tech and he has a 2008 complete Anthem for R8000! The bike needs a new front shock and rear deraileur & shifters. So I think that is going to be a better deal. I think the guy needs money for building purposes.

The students came back this week so the mountain is crowded again some nice "scenery"! LOL

Is R4000 a fair price for a 2008 giant anthem dual suspension frame? R3500? the fox rear float shock is included! please any advice

I just want to know can any rotor work with any calipers? as I have also been thinking about upgrading my Tektro rotors to those wind cutter ones?

I'm going to do the 30KM first race ever. Maybe i'll get shoes soon not sure if it'll be for the race(got a set of shimano pedals already). I've got to much other important stuff to do now.

The track is in a real good condition. There just one part that is slowly eroding away @ the section where you start the hicking trail to go up the mountain. There always water running down there. Its still ok I guess. We almost ride there every night.

Dont worry that's my brother! We both recently got some helmets. Bought off the HUB mind U. @ that time we were trying out the sport to see if it was for us. Enjoyed it so much that i bought me a second project bike now. Hopefully it will be completed soon. Gonna take some pictures of Stellenbosch dam in the near future. Planning to go there maybe this Saturday in preparation for the mountain bike challenge next week. Only doing the 30Km however. Gonna be our first race!

Downloaded Dirtschool DVD yesterday and it looks quite interesting. It shows and explains how to treat trails ranging from easy to difficult.
