  1. Looks like it's moving in our direction.
  2. Let's hope the lightning NW of us doesn't move over here.
  3. Anyone in the CBD yet? What's the weather like? :/
  4. I also don't see a start card, or is it the pink sticker with the "merchandise" part on it? Or am I missing something too?
  5. A very weird design that doesn't have a closing top. If you put pressure on the bottle or suck, the liquid comes out, but if you turn it upside down nothing will come out. Boggles the mind... ????
  6. So I queued 1,5 hours for this goodie bag. ☹️
  7. Got here with 15 people in front of me. 1,5 hours later and I'm 3rd from the front. I hope they sort this f@#& up out soon.
  8. Just arrived at registration and it's standing deadstill. ????
  9. Where ya'll starting? I'm 5G at 09h02.
  10. Just done mine. Website working smoothly - took 30 secs. Now the wait until 2 October....
  11. Errr.. I'm not so sure... They were throwing stones on the N2 a few days ago....

    Die Burger MTB 2014

I think this may have something to do with tagging yourself when you enter the starting shute. If I understand it correctly, it starts timing you from that moment. Your started your Garmin when you started riding, right? This tag system sucks.
  13. This nearly killed me this year, but I'll definitely be back!
  14. I parked at Cape Quarter. Secure and underground. Was a bargain for R5 for the whole day.
  15. Apparently Bottelary Road - in my area, but no idea what stretch of it.
  16. Hey Khoisan, Sorry - only seen your comment now I did the Lite. Yep - the waterpoint was a bit tight, but the organisers really need to look at the ST section. At one stage I had people behind me screaming to pass and a bunch of guys in front doing 8km/h Other than that it was a blast

    Argus 2014

What a blast! Shaved 1 hour off last year's time Rode like an absolute demon. Thankfully the wind wasn't that bad, but I guess that was consolation for starting in OD. BTW, thanks FRAIL for the chat up Smitswinkel. Before I knew it I was passing people left, right and centre keeping up with you
  18. I've put Kenda Kwest slicks on my 26r. Definitely worth it - the rolling resistance is muuuuuch lower. Thorns aren't an issue and sludge does tend to increase the weight quite a bit.
  19. Tomorrow is my first Xterra (Grabouw) and I'm going alone. Does anyone have any tips regarding the transition area? 1. What should I take in there? 2. Is it safe to leave your cap and sunglasses etc next to your bike while your doing the swim? 3. Ideally, what is really necessary in the transition area? 4. Where can any other stuff/clothes be stored? 5. Is the transition area far from the start and finish of the swim? I will have to get there and back without my glasses - without which I'm practically blind! 6. Ideally, how long before the time should you start setting up? Sorry if these seem silly, but I'm flying blind here. Any other tips are welcome, thanks!
  20. Just picked up my goodie bag for this weekend's Xterra and I must say, I'm properly impressed. Decent quality T-shirt, peak cap, waterbottle, travel mug, Rehidrat samples and a tube of Squirt lube. True - it may be included in the price of your entry, but it beats the hell out of the Argus bags which are filled with pamphlets. Well done to the organisers!
  21. Last night's stunning sunset from Lions Head.
  22. Friday evening's sunset over Camps Bay. ISO: 100 Speed: 1/40 Apperture: F9 Canon EOS300D with a Sigma 17-80mm lens 18 images stitched in Photoshop CS3
  23. Shot last weekend on the road between Riebeek Kasteel and Malmesbury.
  24. CapeLandy, Last year's 35km route was mostly farmroads, with a short bit of single track and some rocky sections along a railwayline. Not very technical at all, but some steep climbs up the hills. The 55 does an extra loop somewhere compared to the 35,so you shouldn't have a problem.
  25. Rijk Tulbagh MTB Funride Date: Saturday, June 30, 2012 Organiser: John Brokaar Contact No: 0839525448 Email: info@rtps.co.za Region: Western Cape Start Venue: Disapark, Tulbagh IMPORTANT NOTE Please note, for this event, you have to be a paid up member of the Pedal Power Association (PPA) and use a RaceTec timing chip registered to you, to be able to view your results on the Pedal Power Association and RaceTec websites. Remember to wear your PPA MTB funride number. No helmet, no ride. No transponder, no time - PPA pays for its members to be electronically timed by Racetec. Refer to www.pedalpower.org.za for more information about Pedal Power memberships. ROUTE DESCRIPTION NEW EVENT! Traverse the scenic Tulbagh valley from its town centre across the slopes of its Western Obiqua Mountains, Northern Winterhoek mountains, eastern and southern Witzenberg mountains; on farmroads through orchards, forests, nature and game reserves, across mountain tracks and single tracks. Some of the routes will go over parts of the ABSA Cape Epic and MTN National MTB routes but on this race, the routes will traverse all of Tulbagh’s surrounding mountains in a clockwise direction. The 75 km will test the fit and technically experienced rider with over 1700 m in climbs on a variety of farm roads, 4 x 4 (jeep) track & single-track with spectacular views. The route is designed to provide variety and cover as much of the valley as possible by avoiding too much of a zig-zag route across similar terrain. The 40 km is by no means a cakewalk! Following the same farm, mountain and single track routes as the 75 km but cutting out some of the heaviest climbs and detours but with over 700 m in climbs it still offers a varitable challenge from a perspective of endurance, strength and technical skills for the average rider. The 20 km ride is untimed and one that focusses on those who like to ride but don’t have as much time to build up their stamina and strength. Aimed at the novice and young riders it will still provide a safe but good challenge. Please note that riders under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. DIRECTIONS TO VENUE From Cape Town, take the N1. Take the Klapmuts turn-off (exit 47) to Wellington. Turn left onto the R44 just before Wellington. Pass through the Nuwe Kloof Pass. 2 km after the pass, turn left towards Tulbagh. At the T-junction, turn left again and after about 100 metres, Disapark will be on your left. There will be parking marshalls to indicate available parking areas. Expect approximately 90 minutes driving time from Cape Town. GPS Coordinates: S: 33°17.16 ; E: 19°08.15 NOTES The Rijk Tulbagh MTB Funride’s schedule co-incides with Tulbagh’s Christmas in Winter celebration and besides the traditional Christmas Fare and decorations, there will be numerous attractions all along the historic Church street for both young and old and an ideal opportunity to entertain the whole family for the day or weekend! See www.tulbaghtourism.co.za Remember to wear your PPA MTB funride number. No helmet, no ride. No transponder, no time - PPA pays for its members to be electronically timed by Racetec.
