  1. Stolen: Giant Anthem X1 2014 When: 24 February 2016 Where: Knysna, Western Cape Stolen from locked garage Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section
  2. A simple answer to this debate is to have a 26" & a 29" !!
  3. Wow thanks guys for your feedback! Funny, I was leaning towards the Spark 940 as the 2014 model now has the Nude 2 FOX Nude shock & also the Twinloc Lever System which appears to be a good feature where you can control your front & rear shock from the handle bar lever. The other point was that the rear shock on the Spark is located at the top whereas the Giant Anthem is near the BB which I being a novice to mtb would have thought would attract more muck/damage? Sounds like the design of the Giant gives you a better ride. Hmmmm I suppose it depends on what I can get a Giant Anthem for.
  4. I'm in the market for a new 29" full suspension bike & I've narrowed down my choice down to the 2014 Scott Spark 940 & the Giant Anthem X1? I'm 104kg, 184cm & am a roadie wanting to do some mtb, doing trails, logging tracks, non-technical stuff, distances averaging 50 - 100km's. I'm asking hubbers out there what there views are on the two bikes & what you reckon would suit me most. Your input would be appreciated.
  5. Hi Guys I'm going to buy an MTB - non technical riding i.e. forest gravel road, tracks, long distance & some mtb races .... not single track ...... to old for that! The Scott Spark 640 dual suspension is available at a good knock down price but it is a 26", however, specs are good. As I am quite heavy (105kg), not fat just a big guy & not so young anymore I need something that cushions the ride, I sold my hardtail 26" as I felt every bump & rut & gave up mtb as it was not enjoyable. My question is would the 26" Scott Spark 640 work for me or should I bite the bullet & get a 29" with lower component spec? I would appreciate some good advice.
  6. Hi Springmielie, Barry here, give me a ring tomorrow but you are looking at from R900 inc delivery to main areas of C.T.
  7. Hi guys Does anyone know where I can purchase a set of Campagnola Xenon 9 speed shifters? Any assistance would be appreciated.
  8. Speak to Barry at Rack and Carry - www.rackandcarry.co.za. Represents most bike rack manufacturers thule, holdfast, buzzrack, atera, prorack.
  9. Thanks Johnw I already have a 13 - 26 & want to change to a 13 - 28 but as you say they seem to be as scarce as hens teeth!
  10. The Thule spare me 2 bike carrier is a great carrier that fits to the spare tyre by a through plate that goes through the vehicles wheel bracket, it has 3 adjustment positions to assist in centering the bike to the vehicle. Obviously the wheel cover cannot be attached at the same time.
  11. If you want a Euroway or a Buzz Runner 2 at a good price ...contact me.
  12. The Bosal bike rack has to many moving parts & bits & pieces for my liking.......rock rattle & fall apart after a year of use?
  13. The force exerted on a bike hanging from its frame is considerable when at high speed and you hit a pothole or a donga...if you have an expensive carbon fibre frame get a rack that the bike sits on. The most recent Thule racks should not shift on the towball if tightened or adjusted correctly & that you do not drive at excessive speed. Get No Sway cages to prevent the bikes from swinging (hint...put extra padding in the No Sway Cages to prevent possible chaffing of the bike frame).

The Bosal rack has to many moving parts...looks neat but I doubt that it will last. ATERA ?
  15. Hi all you techy guys. I have a Monoc TCR concept road bike with Campag Mirage 39/53 chainring with Xenon 26/12 chainset & since moving from Jhb to the coast where there are many hills I find the gearing a little difficult & would love to have an easier gear to climb with, what is the most cost effective way to do this? Compact? etc. I'm 55, heavy build (not fat) & pretty fit. Thanks
