  1. I had the opportunity to take part in the Sanlam MTB race over the past weekend & would like to give the following race review: The first question will always be, was it good value? I can truly say that i have done all of the big stage races (with the exception of the Epic) & this one rates right up there. Awesome hospitality & great vibe make for a truly memorable experience. Considering that the goody-bag was packed with goodies, worth probably the same as the entry, gave it an even bigger value for money "tag"! A lot better than most stage races. The route was absolutely awesome. If I recall correctly the race had access to more than 50 farms around the mountain & getting buy-in from all the land owners plus trail building, accumulates to 100's of hours of meetings & hard work. The 2nd stage, on the Sunday, ended as a family affair with kids running around on the beautiful Rhebokskloof wine estate & everyone enjoying the incredible hospitality. Usually post race the organisers struggle to keep the people at the venue for the prize giving. This was not the case at the Sanlam MTB race. Hundreds of people stayed well after the prize giving enjoying great food, Rhebokskloof wine & even some well deserved CBC beer. The only thing I can say is WOW, what an event!!!! To the race organisers, sponsors & race venue I can only give a big !!!! What an event!!! A true gem & one to mark in the calendar in 2017!!!!!

  3. My entry for this awesome event is done & dusted!!!!! Great event, spectacular scenery & roads, very good value for money = BEST road stage race this country has to offer. Bring on TOGH 2017! I can't wait!
  4. Well 2017 will be my 3rd TOGH & it is the one race on the calendar I won't miss. Best roads in the country & great value for money makes this the premier road stage race in SA. If you want to enjoy a proper road stage race & get to ride the best passes in our beautiful country, this one is for you!!! Lots of time in December to get the necessary pre event kilometres in
  5. I'm booking my place early!!!! Look's like this is going to be a sell-out!!!!
  6. Hi Lancesball, Can't talk for the timing company as I don't know them, but all timing issues I have heard about (especially in the 30+ Cat) was handled & sorted swiftly. Yes there was timing issues & yes it must be frustrating for some but was the tour as a package not awesome? Lets focus on all the positive stuff (race village, awesome routes, all the gifts, great marshalling, spectacular racing (especially in the 30+ Cat, but I'm sure in all categories). Lets also not forget about the other direct advantages of this event like short term job creation, advantages for local tourism & the increase in local business that the tour enhanced. Give the timing company a day or two to get the timing sorted! I'm sure they will get it right!!!
  7. TOGH 2016 done and dusted!!!!!! Wow what a week! I can totally recommend the tour to all my fellow cycling enthusiasts!! From the great goody bag, awesome race village, brilliant route marshalling, best roads & passes in the country & all round enjoyable experience, it is great value & totally worth it. To the team at ASG, well done!!!! Book my spot for 2017!!!!!!!

  12. When entering races where should I enter to ride in Cat2 or 3, open seeded or according to age groups? Will it make difference or will you be seeded automatically into the different categories regardless of the entry type?
