  1. Thanks Mampara, But still not a full report just a short highlight, this type of reporting is fine for immediately after the stage but not 24 hours later shouldn't even be for 3 hours later in our technology enabled world.
  2. Hugh volume? If they are experiencing volume issue from a mere couple of thousand hits a day, then they have a poor service provider. (And I mean the cycle tour guys hava a poor provider)
  3. Not really a race report, more like a very short summary. Go to cyclingnews.com and there you will see a race report. The report should include all the events of the day, the first couple of attacks, weather conditions, some brief info on the route for the day, the overall results, including KOM, Points etc and the whole GC list and team standings.
  4. Sure, not saying he should do the writing, but he said on the show one of his tasks/objectives was to improve the comms, so if he is not theone to do the writing then surely he is the one to arrange for a writer or atleast ensure that a writer has been arrange/contracted etc. Surely UCT or Stellenbosch or some other local education institute must have loads of aspiring journo's that could have free lanced for the week, put in the lead car or even a team car, something, anything, but we have nothing
  5. We receive better updated from the hubbers on this site than the so called cycling web sites. Maybe you guys down there can start taking some action photies or even videos for us action/news/cycling starved highveld blokes?
  6. In our quest to be internationally recognised on all fronts and the fact that we do possess the technology. Why do we Saffa's still find it acceptable that nearly 24 hrs after the event we can still not find a decent race report and full details of yesterday's stage of the giro. not all of us are down in the Cape at the moment but would like to know how our boys are doing. On another post on this site I can at least see who one and the first few places, but I would also like to see how much damage our other SA riders sustained but can't. the organisers and the people running their web site should be hung not only by us the supporting public, but by the team managers too, cause with out support, there would be little sponsorship and hence no event??
  7. Obie1 I agree that the E2E is dangerous, however it is the chaps who are trying to hang on for dear life that make it dangerous. I for example use the tuesday session as my speed and intensity training, I know a few others do to. However alot of guys just show up a try show how strong they are day after day, but don't feature on the weekends cause they are still recovering from Tue, Wed and Thur E2E sessions. You will never find guys like Andrew, Christo etc. doing that ride more than once a week at that pace. So to ake it safe for myself I leave 5 min before the bunch a generally only get caught when there are about 5 to 10 guys left, now and again I actually manage to stay away (but not often), this I find is safer for me.
  8. First off just want to wish Greg and Andy all the best and hope the injuries are not permanent. I used to do alot of tandem racing both male and mixed about four years ago and at that point the bunch was smaller but also filled with more experienced cyclists, a couple of ex-pro's and some vets racers. In that time there were not too many crashes however the bunches were smaller and the racing was pretty aggresive in the start so but the 20 - 30 km mark only the top 15 or 20 tandems were left, often only 10 or so. This incident really angers me as I decided to race the hyper in the tandem section again this year and was involved in a crash, fortunately nothing serious at all, that occurred in a similar manner to this weekends one. After me and my partner doing about 70% of the work in the chase bunch (3 tandems had got away up the road) we were approaching the turn about the 45 - 50km mark, so we eased up a little and suddenly all the other useless tandems that had been sucking wheel all day came flying past and the same thing happened to use, the Harmony mixed tandem came past us and cut in front of use taking out our front wheel, luckily we managed to not only keep our line and therefore not bring anyone else down but also kept our bike up right however our front wheel was shreeded, 10 spokes bust, the useless tandem that had caused this simply road off into the distance and enjoyed the rest of their race. So I mentioned the other tandems name since these people escape with no sense of guilt, and by the sounds of the description Sean gave it could be them again since their kit is black and RED. Anyway something needs to be done about this, not sure what though, but I feel if the other riders out there are aware of who these s#@t causers are perhaps they can keep them in the back of the bunch away from everyone else.
