  1. Hectic Sprint in U16 race. Current top 4 u16 road cyclists (Devlin White, Emile Jacobs, Van Vuuren and Jayde) broke away in last few kms and sprinted for the win with some pushing and shoving..... but jees anyone could have taken the win.
  2. You can say that again, wow what a day!!! Especially the unfortunate crash and then "punch-up"... at the U16 points race, and the people's (parents) reaction after that... But as you said, it was in the heat of the moment.... and the boys involved overreacted... Anyway, the racing in general was very good!!!!
  3. Maybe acsis sponsorship period is over, because they are now called team GT/Velokhaya, i think... Their LCA website is also outdated, no updates since 30 November '08.
  4. Yes, well done Kyle Donachie and Emile Jacobs!! 2x U16 WP boys in top 3 of the A bunch.

Artikel in Die Burger 11/07/2007: Frankryk laat ryers van Khayelitsha se o? blink CHERICE SMITH 10/07/2007 11:16:37 PM - (SA) KAAPSTAD. ? Glyn Broomberg, ges?. Hy vergesel die toergroep na Frankryk. Zanele is die enigste meisie ?n die jongste in die groep. ?Ek is so bly en opgewonde. Ronald het ges? sy familie is net so opgewonde soos hy.

What I can say is that Glyn Broomberg has been trying his very best to develop cycling down in Cape Town, with some limited sucess. But I have to agree, I can't see how taking development cyclists to TDF will help them. I know Lothando will be going (no problem as he has represented SA), but the others, I don't know.... The other 5 include a 13 year old girl, 15 year old boy, 2 juniors and another elite. Maybe the U14 cyclist - Emile Jacobs (who also belong to LDCA) was another option for them to take to the TDF, as he is the current U14 SA Road and Track champion. Some much needed exposure for their sponsors.... My opinion is that these development cyclists can achieve much more from the international teams (like Team CSC, T-Mobile ect...) visiting Cape Town during their off-season in December. They could arange for motivational talks, fun rides and personal interviews with these cyclists. Just imagine them meeting their international cycling idol face-to-face... Keep up the good work, Glyn.
  7. Some more Western Province: 1st place: U14 - EMILE JACOBS!!!!! YOU GO BOY. (this after also winning 2x golds in 10km Points Race and Team TT at SA Track Champs)
  8. Please list podium pictures of other categories (like U16 and U14 ect.) as well. Thanks.
