  1. Well here is my two cents , did a three day toer last year with mates, about 8 people in group, through the Cederberg. Carried small rucksack and washed our kit each night. Stayed in lekker accommodation and ate and drank like kings!(The spare Ribs at Cederberg Oasis was LEGEND) Total cost 800 South African Rondts.. Stop bitching just go out and DO! I will only do multiple day events and pay. One dayers must be REALLY amazing for me to pay, jeez so much riding out there you can do with mates man! Make your own medal :-)
  2. Al wat ek kan se: Ek het reeds heelwat van my geldtjies spandeer by Meerendal se Restaurante, nou kan hulle loop ..k Jammer maar so kan mens nie aangaan nie. Gierigheid is n vieslike ding.
  3. Rode it a month ago, singletrack is badly rutted, some sections were simply not at all nice to ride. with the wet, its going to be nasty!
  4. Jeez tried to post some pics, things are just too big! Will retake some foties at lower res and post them or send them directly to you. I must say was very impressed with the frame, had absolutely zero issues with the build or the ride.. well that from the bike not the legs.. the legs the K^^ked :-)
  5. Well, finished last week with my Hongfu 29er Carbon Hard Tail build and rode..not raced :-) the Attakwas extreme on the bike with no prior testing!! To put things into perspective, I weigh 100 kg's and rode all the hectic technical downhills at full pace and did a 7:27. I had no issues whatsoever and the frame performed great. Very stiff and responsive.. and obviously STRONG. The components on the bike is as follows: Wheels: Stans Arch rims, dt swiss hubs and Racing Ralph snake skins in front and Maxxis on the back Fork: Rock Shock Sid solo air Seat Tube: Hongfu Carbon Handle Bar and stem: Ritchey Pro Brakes: XT Shifters: Sram xo gripshifts Crank: Sram XO 3x10 FD RD: Sram XO Seat: Specialised Phantom
  6. an attitude of entitlement wont help anyone. Unfortunately the club builds, maintains and negotiate because of the empowerment through numbers.. now that is positive for all, so why would you feel so entitled if you dont make yourself part of that collective I ask, its not a gang or a"bende" my dear friend. Paying R550 to have access to all this brilliant trails that we have in Tygerberg and you dont have to do anything, you dont even have to wear clubkit! Its an absolute no brainer!!! So lets pull up our skirts HTFU , pay our dues and protect the PRIVILEDGE that a lot of other people worked so hard to achieve. Jinne!!!
  7. best is to e-mail Mr Cluver or any of those 3 trail centres people and just find out, Oak Valley and Paul Cluver is linked by a top gate that is open,(we came through it when we came back towards Oak Valley on day 2) just make sure you then go get your permit for Paul Cluver. I often do a lekker ride through all of Elgins Trails, and then gooi through town to Oak Valley and have a ball on all the loops and after that a lekker Pie at Peregrene! Also a nice option is to stop at Oaklane Cottages,(Lebanon) do all their loops and then duck underneath the road or over and go do Cluver and Thandi! W2W day 2 probably only covered 40% of all the availbale ST there, we hardly touched Oak Valley!! Just make sure to sort all your payments out beforehand, and rather play it safe and link it up via open roads if your unsure :-)
  8. Jus remember the earlier the start the weaker team ur in.. In any case, all the teams basically converge just as you go over Willehonds.. And the Top teams come past you like our standing still just after that..
  9. The local Ortho reckons it lands him a broken collarbone every week!!
  10. One day when im big i want to try go down that blerrie thing, can anyone post a video of some of the technically superior breed going down there PLEASE ???
  11. Kleinplaas or at Chandelier/startline. Jinne last year I bonked myself silly.. Longest 8 hours on a bike EVER. I have a Transkaroo and two Transbaviaanse under the belt but none moered me as hard as this race it kicked me right on the Zip!!!
  12. Howzit Bobbo! Jinne sorry for the reply only now, was a bit off air.. I just used the 15w shock oil as was prescribed in the manual for now, i have been doing a hell of a lot of research on what to use in the place of red rum or fox float oil (same thing) its exactly as Droo said, its not so much about grease but just a much heavier or thicker oil that you need to keep the dustwiper chamber lubed at all time, i am also considering using the heaviest weight shock oil i can find or alternatively a type engine assembly lube that is nice and thick but actually NOT a grease :-) The guys talk about a 85w gear oil that would work beautifully and would also not corrode or attack the rubber dust wiper seal. What also works well to keep the dust wiper seal clean is to do the following after very dusty or wet muddy rides: Put a small amount of the 15 w shock oil into a syringe and gently pull away the dust seal and drop some of the oil in there, then cycle the shock up and down a few times to let the wipers and oil "pull" out all the gunk, clean off the excess oil and dirt and go ride :-)Lekker! Must say the shock is still operating super smooth!
  13. Here is the links: The last video shows only how to service the lowers which are the routine maintainance if you will, the Damper Control service and Airspring service is more for when the shock for instance dont want to lock out or the damping is gone or when the shock loses oil and compression.
  14. Ja i actually wanted to but its harder than you think!! The Videos from Sramtech and mtbr are very good though. Oh ja and that reminds me, let the air out of the lower chamber first and then the top, and depress the shock totally before you LOOSEN ANYTHING!!
