  1. Hi Does anyone know where I might be able to get hold of a dust cover / top cover assembly for my FSA headset?
  2. Or you could try Time atac pedals. I've been using them for many, many years and have never had a problem.
  3. Thanks Guys. So yes, it went down, and now wont come back up. I have managed to coax a small amount of movement out of it, but no more. @droo This does come from my Giant Anthem. Came on the bike when I got it, but I don't believe it was OEM. Seeming more and more like I'm in for a new post.
  4. Thanks, I have dismantled it completely. Didn't pick any thing up, but I'll take another look.
  5. Thanks. Did that. It just equates to the number printed below the QR code (Photo not clear enough to see it). Googling this code doesn't reveal much.
  6. Hi Can anyone identify the brand and/or model of this dropper post. I can't see any brand name printed or etched on it. It needs a service and possibly a cartridge replacement. I'm trying to find out if spares are available. 27.2mm dia. Roughly 100mm travel Thanks
  7. Just my 2c, maybe controversial, and I'll probably take some abuse, this is the hub after all. I ride at Modderfontein regularly. Rode there yesterday morning. Ruts? Not sure what you're on about. It is a MTB trail park, and not a particularly technical one at that, but expect that some sections will be rough and uneven. If you prefer billiard table smooth single tracks, then stick to the road. The best time to ride there is winter and spring. It does get quite overgrown in the summer, as I imagine that it becomes very difficult to maintain that much trail, particularly when the rainfall is good. I have only been there a handful of occasions in the past few years where a few sections have been un-ridable. The rest of the time, just deal with the fact the the grass and shrubbery is long and overgrown. Let's not forget how fortunate we are to have trails like this basically on our doorsteps. And this is MTB, if you don't like the bumpy tracks, stick to the road. I have my flame suit on now.
  8. I have one on mine. The 27.2mm seat post diameter does limit things a bit as it seems to limit the amount of drop. I'm not the tallest guy, but I have the min insertion of the seat post right on the limit.
  9. 'cuz they self important pricks. Saw two of them head off down there yesterday morning.
  10. My 11 year old Merida hardtail ridden weekly doesn't squeak and creak. Gets maintained regularly and if a squeak or creak does happen, its get's dealt with quickly.
  11. Well... I had also hoped that a LBS would be able to spare one. Hey, i'll even pay a reasonable price for one. I'm in Edenvale, Gauteng
  12. Sorry that's the threaded BB not press-fit.
  13. Hi Anyone know where i can get a shimano tl-fc25. It's the tool for the newer XT BB. I have the tool for the older BB but it's too big for the newer one. Apparently there is a plastic adapter ring/tool that should have come with the BB, but i didn't receive such. I've asked a number of LBS in the area, none of them have a tool to sell me, they'd all rather I take my bike in to them, but i like doing things myself. Wanna ride on Sunday, current BB pretty poked. Realize i may need to just take it in, but thought maybe ask first. Thanks.
  14. Hi Everyone I'm considering replacing the crank-set and BB on my wife's MTB. It currently has an old square taper cartridge type BB with a Suntour 3 blade crank-set. I want to replace it with a Shimano threaded BB and hollowtech crank-set. Mainly for weight savings an maintainability. I've read that one should face the BB shell before doing this so that the threaded BB bearings don't wear prematurely. The facing should remove any paint that may have made it's way onto the edge of the BB shell during manufacture which could prevent the threaded bearing cup from seating flush with the frame BB shell. I've had a good look at the BB shell and there is no paint, just bare metal. Would you recommend that i face BB shell regardless or just install the threaded BB as is. Also what else should i look out for or be aware of, and would you consider this swap to be worthwhile. Thanks
  15. Hi Has anyone shipped from CRC using Royal Mail International? Works out the cheapest, but i'm a bit worried about reliability, will it get here, and will i need to pay duties or VAT when and if it arrives at customs?

    SLX or XT?

Thanks guys Bikeshop already replaced the chain and said that should do the cassette at the same time. I asked for a quote and felt that it was slightly on the high side and decided to check CWC. Can get it considerably cheaper there.
  17. Im going to replace my SLX cassette, and im considering upgrading it to an XT cassette. Is it worth it? Will i notice any difference or will i just be wasting money. I have had no trouble with the SLX, so have no issue with replacing like for like. Thoughts and or experiences?
