  4. Thanks Cervelo Due to my injury I haven't trained for three weeks and I see the weather looks like it's gonna rain in EL. I'm comfortable enough on the TT bike, but have more control on the road bike for bad weather. Also with me not being in the TT position for three weeks I think it will be easier on my back to take the road bike. Thanks
  5. Hi Guys EL 70.3 will be my first 70.3 and I wanna know if I should take my TT bike or road bike. Due to an injury I've only been able to do 3 rides of 50km+ on the new TT bike. I'm still not 100% run fit so I might have to bail after the bike, with IMSA being the main goal and 70.3 being an "organised training session" due to the injury. If I'm able to run I want to have enough reserves to run good. Will I use up alot of energy using the TT bike instead of the road bike? Thanks

  7. During my commute to work yesterday I wanted to switch lanes, I did the normal hand signal thingy and 3 cars passed me without giving way. A taxi came up and indicated that I can cross I've had much better experiences with taxis on my bike than in my car, but other cars just don't give a damn
  8. If I'm able to sell my current MTB and TT bike (advertised on the Hub) then I can generate around R25k What TT bike can I buy for around R25k new This is what I've got this far 2010 Ceepo Stinger for around R25k - Ultegra SL 2010 Felt B12 for around R22k - Ultegra SL 2011 Felt B12 for R28k - SRAM Red with R2C shifters Collin Pornstar also have an almost new Black Spade Racing bike with SRAM Red for R33k. It's a bit too much for me, but definitely worth the mention (if someone maybe wants to sponsor me the extra R8k )
  9. Hi FC I don't know if you're still looking for a TT bike but I have one for sale https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/89590-specialized-transition-tt-bike-with-vuelta-carbon-pro-deep-sections/page__p__1220773#entry1220773 Cheers Sloet
  10. Isn't this in January?
  11. On Saturday I heard of a cyclist that had a heart attack because of a potassium overdose from eating too many bananas while cycling. I always have a banana every hour on my rides. At the PPA One Tonner yesterday I had one after 1 hour, but not at the 2nd and 3rd hour. On 100km just before the climb I bonked and stopped at the water point and had a banana. Half way up the pass I was back to normal and had a good ride the last 50km I can’t find guidelines of how many bananas is too much. Can anybody maybe assist?

  15. I want to get a towbar mounted bike rack and have a choice of the following: Thule EuroWay G2 923 Thule Euroride 943 Buzz Runner 3 bike Can anyone give me feedback regarding any of these from personal experience? Thanks Sloet
  16. i thought the black and red of the specialized transition was the ultimate colour combo for TT, but you've given them a slap and the finger great job, hope to see one of these at the 70.3 and ironman expo's and race
  17. thanks flowta yip, i will also use the physio to sort out all muscle imbalances good luck for your wife
  18. my pain would start after about 5-8km off running, when i stop it's fine unless i bend the knee more than 30 degrees I got great news from the doc after the MRI yesterday no need to operate, gave cortisone injection and need to go to physio for ITB stretching if pain persists after 6 weeks will get ITB release operation
  19. Definitely take it slow and change your rest days regularly When I started it looked as follow: Started spinning twice a week and once on the weekend in Nov 09 Bought MTB in Jan and changed to two spin classes in the week and one MTB ride on the weekend Bought Road bike in March, cut one spin session, added two short weeknight rides with roadbike and one long weekend ride with roadbike or mtb Add two swimming sessions per week in April and one short run Add another short weekday run and a long weekend run in May So after 6 months my winter program were: Mon - Weight training 45min - Swim 2.5km Tue - Run 6km - Spin 1 hour Wed - Rest Thu - Run 6km - Spin 1 hour Fri - Swim 2.5km Sat - MTB/Roadbike long ride Sun - Run 16km Now I'm suffering with a knee injury, but it comes from schooldays and not from my current program. I did weight training on and off since 1999 and my biggest mistake always was to start were I left off. Take it slow and you'll be able to do it for longer
  20. 310XT all the way
  21. entered since dmc007 shotgunned the jawbones i'll settle for the scalpels bump
  22. I definitely need more stretching, but share your hate for it i used roaccutan at school and heard it "dries" your joints, so I take I-flex and flaxseed oil supplements daily
  23. had some issues with right knee and changed cleet position and it was sorted, but i'm gonna take all three bikes to a different LBS to check bike setup was done properly first time unfortunately i'm in the northern suburbs, but if i'm not happy with the fisio i'll contact Roger
  24. thank you very much guys, I really appreciate all the support and advice, now just to get myself to stay sane without training read somewhere recently that it's harder to get yourself to stop training than it is to go training the worst bit of all is that i just finished building my time trial bike and was suppose to take her out for a ride saturday
