  1. My suggestion would be that if you are going to go with clipless pedals to get something like the shimano PD-520. A fully dedicated clipless pedal. I began riding clipless with this dual type of pedal and trying to find the right side to clip in can be a real pain. It was so nice to switch over to a dedicated pedal and it is so much easier to clip in. With a dedicate pedal you can pretty much just stamp on it and you are clipped in and good to go. Once you have the shoes you will probably find yourself riding clipped in 95% of the time anyway
  2. I have recently upgraded my rear disc rotors from 160mm to 180mm and almost from the beginning of the swop I have been experiencing vibrations when applying the brakes. Today was the day to tackle the issue and I initially thought that I might have a bent rotor but when I checked the rotor seems to run true. The rotor and pads are new and I haven't had any significant crashes since the swop. Upon closer inspection of the rotors there is wear below the main ring of the rotor, onto the arms that support it and the about a 2mm section of rotor that does not show wear on the outer edge. It looks to me like this could be causing the vibrations as the support arms pass between the brake pads. Has anyone else had this issue before? Can I solve it by spacing out the calipers so that the pads are better positioned? I have a set of convex/concave washers that I saved from a previous set of brakes that look like they will work well to solve the issue. I just thought to check if someone may have come across a similar issue before.
  3. I have recently run into this problem when changing my chain that my smallest 11t cog was especially worn and would skip with the new chain. I found out that you can buy single 11t cogs (and a few other sizes) from wish.com for like R70. I have been running it now from 2 months and haven't had any issues. I know that the cogs themselves are cheap Chinese stuff and I will probably have to change it out sooner than the rest of the cassette but it has saved me from having to buy a new cassette now. Its worth giving it a try if you were planning on changing cassettes anyway. The delivery is through SAPO so it does take like a month to arrive but the SAPO does have an agreement with Wish to share tracking info so they do tend to actually arrive now, which is nice.
  4. I would like to replace the entire master cylinder assembly. I am working under the assumption that as long as the brake lever assembly that I swap in is also designed for a 2 pot caliper that the volumes of the pistons for both the lever and caliper are similar and should therefore be able to be swapped without issue. This seems to be the general consensus from the Hub.
  5. My current brake set up on my bike are entry level Shimano BR M447 Calipers and BL 445 Lever. They work perfectly fine but I am not a huge fan of the ergonomics of the brake levers and rather than upgrading the entire set up I am looking to only change the levers. I am considering getting some DEORE BL-M6100 Levers which would be a nice upgrade. Is there any technical reason why I should not do this swap. I know I will be running different calipers than what Shimano recommends but is there a technical reason why I cannot just upgrade the levers? Are the internal diameter of the pistons different or the throw of the calipers? The small amount of research I did suggests that this is not recommended but I cannot think of a reason why it would not work.
  6. Out of interest what cassette are you running? I have never come across a 10spd cassette with a 52T ring on it.
