  1. if we had that sort of gradient and ski lifts in SA our guys would be up there and able to compete. Pmb Is good I ride from,Probably takes me literally 3 minutes ride to cascades and half that to the bottom of my dh tracks which are about a 8 min shuttle up and 1:45 min down, then we have karkloof about 30 mins away, and if we are desperate giba gorge in hilcrest 45 mins away
  2. Heres a pic,of the one I rode http://instagram.com/p/NgQLans8LE/
  3. haha awesome, bike feels super plush but at the same time does not bob under pedaling, weighed it. It came in at 12.5 kgs not bad for a 150mm bike
  4. still waiting for the frame to arrive, should be next week, got to ride a complete bike around the Morewood Factory on Monday,They have one built up for photo shoots. I have ordered the rest of my parts through rush sports,Cane Creek H/Set E-13 Dual ring chain guide Renthal low rise fat Bars Spank trail stem Shimano press fit bb 92 xt 10 spd chain and 11-36 cassette Super keen, just so hard to wait haha
  5. Haha best DH bike to own in SA for sure
  6. sorry Duaneo not all of us have a Double Barrel hahahaha knob!
  7. No worries, I puzzled when I my first makulu because it seems so weird to run such a light spring. I got mine from the factory, they support our team. Its a Fox, Finally got my bikes setup dialed.I think all the Makulus ship standard with a 200 spring
  8. Nige get one for masters next year,do it green and gold. But if you finish off the podium you will look like a toss
  9. yeah Im about the same weight, I got my shock setup at the factory and I run a 225 with about 35% sag which is supposedly spot on for the leverage design. Whats nice about the RC4 is that you also have the bottom out adjustment to play with. If you looking for a good base setting to start off from what I have been riding, 150psi, bottom out half way turned out,low speed 4 clicks clockwise and high speed 7 clicks clock wise (starting both from full anti clockwise). Feel free to use it or not. I just found it quite weird you running super soft in the front and hard on the back,When you in the rough stuff youre gonna end up super nose heavy
  10. What do you weigh patches?, if you under 100 kilos that 300 spring is gonna be far to hard
  11. The new Gambler is so noisy, saw fairclough riding it in pmb. You could literally tell when he was coming by the sound of the bike.
  12. Thanks
  13. will do,that yeti is a 73 shell, lets hope they work. should sell them easily if they dont fit
  14. will do,I have Formula the Ones on my DH bike, and I want to look at getting the new saint or zee

  17. Our DH team is hooked up by the factory
  18. mavic 823 ust on xt hubs
  19. I have a set of impacts, also have the free riders both awesome grip. the impacts are a lot stiffer soles I battled feeling where my feet were on the pedals compared to the free riders but in all honesty I havent spent enough time riding the impacts, they are their premium dh flat shoe for a reason
  20. This is the frame http://www.lamacycles.com/photos/productsimages/fmedium659794342.jpg
  21. Thought id document my bike build. Im currently waiting for my XL Morewood Sukuma Frame, which is on its way to the country. For those of you who dont know about this Frame it is Morewood's new split pivot 150mm AM/Enduro offering. I will post pics as soon as i get the frame, and the build process. So far Ive got most of the build kit sitting at home, a couple more parts and it will be good to go. Whats cool is that I have sourced most of the stuff brand new off the hub. Here my parts so far. Im also busy building a new AM/Enduro trail will post pics at various stages and hopefully me riding the finished Sukuma on it in a month or so.
  22. Optimum would probably be a light 150mm trail/am bike. but I rode my zula which was 100mm and finished 24th at karkloof and 15th at cascades. Until the courses become more technically demanding a 120mm bike will be perfect
  23. You guys need to get over the XC/DH rivalry. I rode the Karkloof and cascades events this year and they were awesome. There were downhillers, xc racers and weekend warriors. No one cared! I recently read about one of the european enduro rounds that took place, it had 5 stages nothing over 2kms long. It was held over a weekend with saturday being a practice session in the morning where people could check out lines and obstacles and then a seeding run in the afternoon followed by racing on sunday. If its going to work in SA it needs to cater 50/50 for downhillers and xc guys, by this I mean the trails it cant be more suited to one or the other. Because this will lead arguments about dh/xc again. There is no specific dress code, its your own decision. I have seen XC pros on the pmb world cup xco track in full lycra with pads learning there lines in practice. I think next year you will get guys specifically training to ride enduro as there main discipline,I think in a couple years it will be part of the World Cup circuit and our National series as a specific discipline. Its cheap to organise, easy to run and if organised correctly it will be great for spectators.
  24. Hahahaha on car holding bike
