  2. I am a 23 year old student/DH racer/part time worker/trail builder I have a Ford Bantam and was thinking the other day that My DH rig is nearly worth as much as my car and wondered how many other people have the same situation. Feel free to post pics pics of your DH rigs. Heres my Beast. The specs are Morewood Makulu Fox 40 RC2 Fit Kashima Fox DHX RC4 Formula The One Brakes E-13 Cranks Gamut chain device Mavic 823 rims on Industry 9 hubs Sram XO 10 spd DH specific Rear mech and shifter SDG I-Beam saddle and post Straight line direct mount stem Renthal Fatbar ODI grips Schwalbe Muddy Mary 2.35" front Wild Will 2.35" rear Crank bro Mallets Taking me alot of saving haha
  3. duanes got span cash
  4. Hey Nige is the enduro course using any of the dh track?,because I dont have a xc/enduro bike right now so I was keen to go practice dh on the sat
  5. Im looking at bringing in a set of theses when I build my sukuma. Gary Barnard in Cape Town has done a review on them for enduro/trail riding he will be riding in trans provence this year. They look awesome.http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=83194
  6. if they even manage to straighten it, its probably gonna have lost half its strength. Rather fork out for a new one then get caught unawear when it suddenly goes again
  7. I have built up the wheels for my Sukuma. Not the lightest but they will be super strong. XT Hub 15mm front XT rear 12x142 Mavic 823 ust rims Hutchinson 2.3 tubeless Piranhas. got them super cheap but I will look at getting some schwalbe hans dampfs later on in the year
  8. I have raced DH Nationals with Chris for the past 5 years. I previously had a set of mavic 823 rims on ringle' hubs, ran them for 2 seasons without a single ding .Got the flows with the new bike. I have gone back to mavic 823's on I9 J-Bend hubs
  9. Thats what i thought as well. But when I contacted Stans direct via email they told me that the flows are strong enough for DH when built well. Gee Atherton has been running them with saint decals on.All I can say is, that is probably why he had a couple wheel mechanicals last season. I would understand them dinging but to fold one railing a turn really shows how weak they are. I will never run them again and will never recommend them to anyone for anything but xc/light trail riding
  10. on my morewood makulu, but it was really odd because it folded in a bermed corner
  11. 819's are solid i had them on a zula and they were great and UST, Im building up a Morewood sukuma and running 823's on it. I have 823's on my makulu and they are bombproof
  12. im 92kgs and i wont ride flows again
  13. sorry for asking but what do you weigh,i ask this because i folded a ztr flow and 2 of my mates who are much lighter than me have written theres off aswell
  14. I would never recommend ZTR flows to anyone they are crap. They may be light but they are light for a reason you sacrifice strength. And they are supposed to be the strongest Ztr rims. Strength wise mavic are still the best. Dont sacrifice strength for weight rather take a crap before you ride or lose a couple kgs
  15. Well done to all you new riders, and you jo burg boys with 1 days practice, glad you enjoyed the track, dunno where that wind came from, its never windy up there
  16. heres a run with the changes sorry for the bad quality
  17. yeah thats the only problem, but im sure they will release it to black berry at some stage
  18. Whats up guys, Im gonna be trying out a new format of DH/Trail racing that I thought of the other day riding. Im not sure how many of you guys use or know about the training app Strava. Currently its only available for Iphone,Android and certain Garmin devices. Basically its an app you use when training/riding, it uses GPS to plot what you have ridden. After your ride you can go onto the Strava website and set specific start and stop points on a specific trail, Once a segment is created your time will be automatically be taken if you are riding using the app. You will then be put in a leader board. What I am doing is running a fun event on 2 of my tracks namely Rico's and Comleys. The way it will work will be that the tracks will be open from Monday the 11th June till the Sat the 30th June. It will be R50 to enter, Once you have entered you can do as many runs as you want until the 30th June. All riding is done in the riders own time and at there own risk, there will not be marshalls or medics or shuttles, just trail and rider. How you get to the top is up to you. I have already made up the segments and will make the start and finish markers visible. Its great fun trying to beat your mates. On strava you can follow your friends and see when they beat your time or if you beat theres. Once you upload your finished ride via your device it will be visible on the leader board. First place will be 2 floating trophies engraved with the quickest time per track and Name. All bikes are welcome to ride. What you will need is: A Strava Supported device A free Strava account available at www.strava.com R50 to get involved I will post further details later Cheers
