  1. Good morning. No SwissVan I did not get the exact street of where the vehicle was taken. I do however have some good news. After the incident I have made a concerted effort to do my part in my community by joining our local CPF. Speaking to one of the members last night on patrol I was told that the one suspect jumped a wall in the same street as where the incident took place. He hid himself in the dogs kennel for about 3 hours while the cops were still busy investigating the scene. When the owner of the house went outside to feed the dogs he's daughter noticed the suspect hiding in the kennel. they called cops and they managed to apprehend him after yet another chase. I really hope he will get some time in jail.
  2. Got woken up by multiple gun shots this morning at 4am, After calling the security company and making sure all was safe in yard I ventured outside my gate. I was greeted by about 7 Police vans, 1 flying squad, 1 venture full of cops and 3 unmarked police cars. Must have been about 20+ Police officers running around our street with fire arms drawn. Apparently a vehicle was stolen in Parkdene a short while earlier. The owner called the Parkdene Police cellphone. The Police blocked off the main road leading to Kingfisher heading over the highway, suspects tried to avoid the roadblock by heading into our neighborhood only to be met by a Police vehicle. Shootout ensued but unfortunately the suspects managed to get away. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the reaction of the SAPS. Being a victim of a high jacking about 4 years ago where the police pitched up 4 hours later did leave me with no faith in the cops. I am now starting to regain some trust in them. Our company does vehicle tracking and recovery and there too I have notice an improved reaction time by the authorities when we report incidents.
  3. I broke a spoke on my Shimano road bike on Tuesday. Took the rim in that afternoon and got it back the next day, spoke replaced and straightened the rim. If the lbs does not carry stock how were they able to replace it so quickly?
  4. I did the challenge in October 2009 with a starting weight of 107kg. I lost a total of 23kg in the 3 months. I have managed to keep it off till Nov last year with an ave weight of 84 - 87. Nov I stopped training so I am now sitting at 92 I have started with the challenge today and yes it is very expensive. It is not a 3 month diet but a whole change in lifestyle. Once you stop with the challenge after 3 months then the real work begins, trying to keep to your goal weight!
  5. From 84 to 93 since beginning Nov. I can't believe it but believe me I can feel it. So to get over this all I bought myself a road bike and put the MTB on the shelf for a while. Lost 2 k's last week and did 160km without any healthy eating, wow I love cycling
  6. Nothing wrong with these! http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/individual-sports/cycling/footwear-9/ Sorry I do not know how to paste the link in the correct manner.

I do 150k's work and back each week on my Bianchi MTB. Only draw back I have with using my MTB on road is that the tyres dont last. I love riding my mtb, be it on or off road.
  9. I cycle with my wife all the time. Only commute on my own. Now I have a bit of a problem. It's all fun and games till she takes a bail. I took her to the airport route on Sunday, she took a nasty bail and now has her knee in a bandage. To make matters worse a girl that took the Japanese garden route with me also bailed on Sunday, had to get my car all the way up to the track to get her out. 6 stiches! I am not saying my wife can't do what I can, We are going to start diving together in Jan. Only thing that gets to me is when she gets hurt like that and there is nothing you can do.
  10. I have the same issue. Ride MTB with Eggbeaters so I have to change to SPD every time I spin. Not fun sitting next next to your spinning bike with a multi tool changing your Eggbeaters. I also need another pair of shoes
  11. Good day. My company is currently looking for an IT developer with SQL experience. We need to achieve the following goals: 1. Develop a program to interrogate a SQL database. This program is to be used for fleet management reporting as well as live tracking. 2. To tweak our network (One server with about 37 machines) 3. To re-design our web page and to add new features. This position is unfortunately not permanent but will be on a target basis. If you are interested or know of someone who might be please pm me.
