  1. sand is a killer, hate that stuff...maybe ill go hiking again and check it out that way...guess there are other more recognisable places more suited to cycling around that area...
  2. Thanks GuyP. I went hiking there one rainy day and didnt see any MTBers. Was just wandering what the trail was like. Easy going is what I need will maybe try that and Breedt's Nek on the same day or something, but Breedt's Nek looks extremely steep. How far is the climb?
  3. Hi there, Does anyone cycle at Mountain Sanctuary Park out in the Magaliesburg? How is the ride?
  4. Blikzem...would have been nice to know that sooner...Thanks Mojoman....will try them again this weekend.
  5. Just wanted to find out how to go about riding at Kingskloof... A while back a buddy and I were waiting outside the gate for about half an hour, from about 09:00 to 09:30 hoping that the gates would magically open. Then I read a suggestion on this thread that they guys should rather be phoned first to find out whats potting. Phoned one of the numbers on the website this past Saturday afternoon to find out what time they would be open on the following day (yesterday). The guy assured me that they would be open by 6am. Rock up there just after 8, all ready for my weekend ride. Guess what...gates lock stock and barrel...Is there another gate that I missed or what? Cause I seriously cant imagine that they would not be open after I arranged with them so nicely the previous day?
  6. Very sad to loose a fellow cyclist. May he rest in peace.
  7. Bike is in the darn shop...don't think I'll get it before the weekend so sad, so sad...
  8. Was there yesterday. Really awesome trail! Very technical, try not to fall into the river... Besides my buddy and myself think that only 2 other people road the trail yesterday. So, nice and quite. Quite difficult for newbies like me but I'm sure the pros will love it.
  9. Ash, best you bring back up...sounds like you are going to get a stern "talking to" on Tuesday...
  10. When I cycle I hate bad drivers. When I drive I hate bad cyclists...tis a rather simple affair...
  11. Jeepers... right under my nose. Drive past there every morning and didn't know there was a trail there. Was wandering where all the MTB guys were going so early in the morning. Guess I'll have to check it out. Was useful to see the "rules" here though, even though we have managed to bed down only 3 so far...
  12. Where is this Spruit place what you Ouks is talking about? Sounds like fun.
  13. Did my very first ride with my new bike at Northern Farm on Sunday. Was awesome! Didn't fall or collapse in an exhausted heap! So chuffed!
  14. Hello There! Total newbie here...Just bought a Scott Aspect 30 on Sunday. All shiny and stuff... I really like it so far (ok, only after 3 days might be too soon to tell) but just wander if it was the best option out of the following list. Itself, the Felt Q620 and the Mongoose Tyax. I think the Felt and the Scott are fairly similar in price (about R5500 - R6000) but the Mongoose was going for R4500. The guys at Sportmans Warehouse were fairly clueless so I didn't really want to buy a bike there. The guys who sold me the Scott said that you can't really compare Scott and Felt? Is that true? Is the Scott that much better than the Felt?
