  1. ZONES! Please.. I've recently started training again after an extended holiday period.. in the process I've dusted of my HRM and am Fully Committed to training according to my HR. Except I think that I'm making a hash of it. My Max HR is super high (taken from a spike and flatline during a race with a neighbouthood kid after a ride), my zones are out of whack and I don't think I'm doing anything wrong, except this.. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the concept of training according to my zones. I ride an for an hour and keep my HR under 80% of Max, as I've read, this is me establishing a training/ fitness baseline. When I get home and download my data, I've spent the entire time outside (above) of my zone, which is set at 160 80 which I assume to mean 160 bpm or 80% of max. All I want to achive at this stage is to optimise the limited time that I have on my bike.
  2. That's the bike riddle of the ages.. So you have probably had a look, while choosing your bike (Nice choice, I ride the 2011 Matts fts 800) and have noticed that to but a complete bike is the cheapest way to buy the components. It's really a matter of liquidity I suppose. If you get a regular Sales commission for example (and cannot save the money) then upgrade as you go. The fork is starting right at the top of the upgrade price list though. Rather start with the groupset, hollow BB, tubeless conversion etc I think that these components are most commony possible to transplant when you eventually upgrade to that Soft tail frame, which is the natural order of things...
  3. Does this mean that any bike sold to any member of the SA Republic should comply. I would certainly be put off in my LBS if every bike sported spoke relectors. I hate them! They're my acid test to identify a Macro/Game/PnP bike at speed.
  4. No the Salt road that we raced on is the "new one" between Swakop and Walvis. It runs behind the dunes all the way to Dune 7. (If you are familiar with the area.) It used to be a gravel road but has been upgraded to accomodate the heavy vehicle traffic. (Salt Trucks) Last year the route followed the Henties Salt Road This yearthey were afraid that it would be to slippery.
  5. I did the Sprint Distance and thought the race was well organised. Not that we need much support in the 1h20 that we spend on the course.. I'm sad that you didn't have a great expreience here in Nam, but must say that this was one of the better events of the year. namibia is starting to get organised with hosting events but usually fall short when it comes to communication and marshalling. Both these areas were excellent in my opinion. Thanks so much for coming to the event though, there are 3 worth doing at this stage and the FNB Dessert tri is my favorite. I guarentee that they just get better year on year, so next year when you come back (with a huge group of Hubbers) things will be better. Closing roads for events here is sticky because of the relatively small following of the sport, for now. WELL DONE ON YR TIME BTW!!
  6. and his Cell no is: Yours Sincerely John Mathe Tell:0718271921 I wish there was a way to get this dude, but I'm sure that the risk isn't worth the reward. oh oh seven or not.. I'm in live in NAM so harassing him on the phone will just cost me and likely entertain him.
  7. Gumtree seems to have taken the ad off already, I reported it as fraudulent. It was there a minute ago, promise.. Thank all of you for your help and comments.
  8. Here is this same guy on Gumtree> <Bastard on Gumtree> Geez this is sad, I thought I had the Bargain of the century
  9. What do you suggest? I've tried asking him to send me the full spec of the bike, because he claims that the bike is fitted with SRAM X9, but he hasn't responded. maybe time to name and shame. I should publish his name and phone number..
  10. I have just been contacted by a guy in Bloemfontein. He has Excellent prices on 2011 Trek Ex9's BUT! He is very indescript about the bikes, his reply's to mails seem computer generated or translated. The spec of the bikes are slightly under the manufactuers spec which could explain the price, but intellectually, I realise I'm rationalising. Does anyone have the time to check out an address for me in Bloemfontein? Is there even a bike shop at 78 Church Street Bloemfontein,9300,Free state?? If he's legit, I'll buy 2 at the prices he's offering.. 007
  11. G'Day Hubbers I was wondering how many of us are in Namibia. If you live in Namibia please confirm. reply with your town, or at least your region, if you're shy to admit to being from Luderitz for example . I'm guessing there are quite a few of us.
  12. silence.. Formicating, cleva.
