  1. It's amazing how smooth Greg made that hill look. Probably has something to do with him barely touching the ground most of the way down. Most of the guys I ride with need to stop at least once (I normally stop twice) to relax the hands on the way down. Leogang is rough. I'm very happy that Minnaar won it, although it would have been better if he won without Gwin having a mechanical.
  2. I think 130 would be perfect for a trail bike. Anything more is overkill for most of the single track I've ridden before.
  3. I've been using a Surface Clothing jacket this season. It's been through a fair share of wet and muddy downhill days and has never failed me. Even survived a few crashes. Looks cool, sits comfy, not too warm. Not sure if it's available in SA though. http://www.bike-mailorder.de/out/pictures/master/product/1/surface-pertex-windbreaker-regenjacke-2011-48923.jpg
  4. Depending on the frame prices, I could definitely see a Rook and a Pulse standing in the basement next year. Just need to figure out how to stop the wife from noticing. http://www.chainreac...-mountain-bikes
  5. Damn, I didn't realise all I needed was a gym membership. I guess I can sell the DH rig and take my DJ toy to the parks from now on!
  6. You know me too well, young patch. The brake bumps do put me off though, also one of the reasons I don't like going to Leogang any more. The parks popularity is also it's downfall because the main trails are so bad you can't really enjoy them. A lot of parks don't really do much maintenance, unless there's a big event coming.
  7. How was the overall condition of the tracks? Lots of brake bumps? Any missing bridges?
  8. I should have a car next year, then I'll go check it out. Need to see for myself if the Frenchies are any good at building trails.
  9. That is fcken terrible. I don't suppose he has some form of traveller's insurance that'll cover the replacement?
  10. A few days in Europe and everyone is injured? Too tough for you guys?
  11. I offered him my couch for the remainder of the trip. Plenty of sorrow-drowning beer in Munich.
  12. This is such torture! I have a huge project, which will already keep me up late into the night for the next few weeks. BUT, since next week Wednesday is a public holiday, I could take Thursday/Friday and make a long weekend trip. My sensible side is saying I should stay and focus on the work. My crazy downhiller side is saying **** it, let's ride! What to do, what to do...
  13. I may be able to pull through for 2/3 days, but that will be very last minute. The bright side: big project = money for bike stuff!
  14. That's a bit far away, but if you're ever in Munich, lemme know. We can meet up for a ride or a beer or both.
  15. I've actually been too all of them except Hopfgarten, which looks like it'll happen this weekend if the weather plays along.
  16. Just off the top of my head, all within a 2-3 hours of Munich: Leogang, Wagrain, Innsbruck Nordkette, Hopfgarten, Bischofsmais, Spicak, Samerberg, Lenggries...
  17. Looks like I may have to skip the trip. Getting briefed on a big project tomorrow, so it'll be very difficult to take a week off. Combine that with difficult to justify travel and accommodation costs, and it's not looking good.
  18. Not really the place to discuss pricing, but a friend of mine knows one of the staff at Canyon. Apparently they buy Boxxer R2C2's at less than a quarter of what you pay for it in the shops. Huge margins are definitely being made.
  19. Yes, I found a used Torque 6.0 going for cheap, so I snatched it up. Only taken it out twice so far. It seems like a decent enough bike, and the geo is a great improvement over the Morewood. Waiting for softer springs to arrive, then it's good to go!
  20. Haha! That's my idea as well. Pretty much the same reason I didn't get a bike with a Fox 40 and other super high end gear.
  21. I've done at least 10 park trips this season so far, and only had one flat, which was caused by choosing the pointiest rock I could find as a landing spot. Just run as little more pressure than normal and take 2 extra tubes.
  22. That vid reminds me of a crash I had at Osternohe a few weeks ago. They have a shoulder-high drop immediately after a rocky hairpin corner. Obviously I got a little loose in the corner, so I gave it one last-second pedal before the drop, only for the front to wash out on a loose rock, sending me OTB down the drop. Luckily I got away unscathed.
  23. 270 per person. Otherwise patch would squeeze 4 people in there!
  24. Okay, think I'll book the hotel when I get back from Berlin next week.
