  20. The new 8km Bike look will make next weekends Durban Multipsort cycling route the fastest 8km bike course in SA. Check out the map and elevation (or lack of) on our website: www.bactive.com The route is 3 open lanes of awesome tar.. its going to be flat & fast so bring out the deep section wheels, discs and the rest of your toys!
  21. The NEW Bike route has been confrimed with SPU (Strategic Projects Unit of Durban) and its going to be flat and fast. NMR (MY) road will be completely closed to vehicles from 6am and athletes will ride contra-flow on both sides of NMR (MY) The two turn points will be Goble Road and Old Fort Road. This gives us the following distances for each race: Rookie race = 4.5km Sprint race = 18km Olympic race = 42km The Starting times have changed slightly to accommodate Total Sports ladies race. 6:50am - Rookie Event 7am - Sprint Event 7:15am - Olympic Event. Entries close next week Wednesday (18th July) We look forward to seeing you there.
  22. We have already looked into this. All the Multisport EO's in SA met a few months ago and had discussions with the Dept of Sport and Recreation. Unfortunately Motorsport got away with it through a technicality, but we have been assured from Sascoc that no other national body can be formed and will be recognised by them. ( "So what do we get for being registered TSA athletes? we help TSA raise the profile of the sport? negotiating power with sponsors? what sponsors?? TSA has never brought any sponsors to the sport. if it wasn't for the Lotto grant (and we know why they got that) and of course the sanction fees and day license fees they charge the event organisers they would be broke. i have never seen another governing body that does so little for their respective sports. their only concern is money!! being a member of TSA means absolutely nothing just ask Dan Hugo" ) - We couldn't agree more on this. We (EO's) have been made the sole funders for TSA (as Lotto pays for equipment) and we are not happy about being the cash flow for a national body, Sponsors should be sort by them to boost the sport. Anyway, this is only something new to you, but we have been battling this for over 18 months now with TSA and no joy, so rather than working against then, we are now trying to work with them... sort of! Come 1st Sept 2012 buy an annualy TSA lic and lets hope that if we get enough registered athletes the TSA charges on events will drop and we can keep our entry fees down!! Cheers guys.
  23. Hi Garfield Its interesting the 33% of the Day Lic has only just been pointed out to us and this was developed and implemented by TSA not even discussed by Event Organisers. In 2013 we will be removing our portion (33% of the Day licence fees) and not charging competitors this to keep the costs lower for all competitors. The rising costs has to stop and we will be doing our bit to try help. My suggestion is that on the 1st of September 2012, anyone who wants a to do any Tri or Du races, buys an annual Triathlon Licence (same as road and MTB licences) as it is Easier, Cheaper and better for the sport. (the more registered athletes in a sport, the more support SASCOC gives that sport) Train hard and hope to see you chaps on the 6th October @ the Midlands ULTRA Cheers Damian
  24. No, it will just mean you pay what you are paying: Entry fee + the day lic, however my mention of this subject was to illustrate to Joe Public that 1st: Day licence fees are going up! ALOT and so best you buy an annual TSA licence. and my 2nd point was to mention that the actual sanctioning fees (that are included in the entry fees) are also going up, which gives an explaination as to the higer entry fees being charged. Triathlons are like doing 3 races in 1. Swim race + Cycle Race + Running race. So the costs to run these safely do add up and hence the entry fees are what they are. Have a great weekend guys and hope to see you on the 22nd July (Durban Multisport Series) and the 6th October (Midlands ULTRA) Cheers
