  1. I think bearing whise it will be fine - My worry is about the freewheel body on the ZTRs. There have been reports of locking up even moore so on the Tune units - has anybody here run ZTRs for a good couple thousand of k's?
  2. It all started with a wrecked rim, but it soon rolled over into looking at building a light set of XC wheels. I already have a set of ZTR Olympic rims and now need to pick hubs. Does anybody have experience/ insight on the No Tubes ZTR hubs? and especially vs MUCH cheaper XT hubs and similarly priced XTR hubs? Other than those, what would you recommend?
  3. am I the only one to find "They (sic) are a couple of morons around, but moaning about them on the Hub is certainly not going to make them go away." just a bit ironic? hey dude - hope you feel better tomorrow, and yes we do live in a stunning country: no place with such nice single track can be bad to live in...
  4. We ride at night rain or shine - which tought me at least one thing that you might find useful: The 900 lumens MagicLight battery hates the rain more than you do: do yourself a favour and keep it dry or be ready to be forking out for a battery replacement. Apparently the 1400 lumnes version has a slightly more tollerant battery
  5. Thanks, had a look at the site and will give them a shout.
  6. Hi Hannes I am also looking for an experienced wheel builder here in the Cape Town area (I tend to count places like Stellenbosch as part of the Cape Town area).Do you mind telling who you have in mind?
  7. ... or a bread baker, but no, all I am saying is that righteous indignation is useless - do your homework and buy where the service/cost offer suits you. I think it is laughable that people who would yesterday have bought happily from the offending parties wouldn't today - did they not check prices yesterday? Bottomline: if your LBS is not on the list it does not mean you are getting a good deal (now tell me I am a bike shop)
  8. Whether your LBS is or isn't on the list is irrelevant, if you shop around for the best price when you are buying locally and you import when you can wait for the parts and don't need shop assitance, you help market forces to dictate the price. No amount of collusion will force me to buy a Chinese light set for twice the price it costs to import it from the US after some Yank imported it from China. Similarly no collusion charge will stop me shopping at my LBS or parts agents (many of whom are on the list) when I want to buy something locally (ie. urgently). I'll just be extra sure to check my prices dilligently and take responsibility for not getting ripped a new one. PS. All of that said, this news has made my latest CRC shipment so much sweeter.
