  1. Took this a few weeks ago at the top of Veer factor, not the highest quality photo, but it was an amazing moment to take in the night air on a ride after being cooped up inside for weeks!
  2. We are still doing the night ride at Bloemendal when it is not raining on a Thursday. The trails are actually fairly dry, the Flow Trail, Lombard's and Veer Factor are all good to ride, even if it is a couple of days after the rain. The only parts that are muddy, are some of the farm roads. As you climb up next to Home Run, stay to the right after you go past the Kuilvoergat, then cross home run at the next left. You can then climb up next to the flow trail and take the road across to D'aria's side, or if you'r feeling strong, go straight up next to the flow trail. The intersection near the top of home run is a bog, but if you choose your line and keep a steady pace, the mud isn't too bad, only my tyres got muddy last week. Can't say anything for the rest of our trails at the moment, though.
  3. Yeah, that is stupidly expensive, more than my entire bike at this point. Thanks, though. I think I'll stick to my Hyrax for the foreseeable future.
  4. Yes, this is what I meant :). Those components from Intend are very cool, but also very pricey!
  5. Is that the Intend fork on there?
  6. I last rode that steep downhill that cuts across the contour about a month ago. It's very eroded, especially the last section where it tees into the path running parallel to the dam, but that just made it more fun to ride. Otherwise, no problems with overgrowth anywhere that I rode.
  7. Thanks Morné!
  8. Can anyone share a photo of what the 2024 boards look like? Curious to see 😁
  9. Hi Kyle, You can definitely hire bikes there along with a day pass. I'd recommend bringing your own helmet, I had to hire one there and I wasn't very inspired to ride hard with it on, but I normally ride with a full face 😜. Not sure about cleats, but you can probably email them to find out: info@bloemendaltrailpark.co.za 060 657 6344 I wouldn't worry about riding with flats, though, I've been riding with flats there weekly for 3 years now. The climbs are mellow and the technical riding is chilled, so I don't think you'll miss them. (Also one less thing to pack😉)
  10. So, I have a DVO Topaz 2 on there at the moment, it has a piggy back, which is cool, but I want to swop it out for a coil. I'm just waiting for Xfusion to do another production run on their H3C coil so I can replace it. Should happen later this year.
  11. Haha, well, that settles it at least! Question is, is that simply done by putting in a longer stroke shock with the same eye to eye?
  12. I'll definitely look into this, thanks. More than 160 won't help me without getting a new fork, so that may be my limit.
  13. Haha, I actually need a new action cam for the trip, I'm still using an old Hero 3+ and I'd love somthing with stabilisation in, but I'll see what I can find, else I'll just use what I have. Luckily I have some time in the states beforehand, so I might have the chance to buy something.
  14. Thanks, I will definitely give them a shout for some advice!
  15. Haha, I'll see what I can do, maybe I can become internet famous then I'm going to have to work on my fitness a lot
  16. I've seen the jumps on Dwayne Johnson, no way I'd hit a Red jump line like that If things work out like I'm hoping, I'll be there in early July, so I hope Top Of the World will be open.
  17. Yeah, I'm actually considering it. Maybe it can be adjusted internally on the shock by tuning the spacers so that I can change it back later if I want. I'll ask the guys at Knipe.
  18. I was originally planning on going to Whistler in a few years with the idea that I could level up my jumping and riding so that A-line is achievable by the end of the trip, but this opportunity came up and now I'm rolling with it and seeing what happens.
  19. Yeah, that is very different to what we're used to. That said, I have never really subscribed to the light weight school of thought. I love my ALU bike and wheels, but I'm no expert, so that's just my feeling. I'm running Code RSC brakes on my Hyrax, for what it's worth, though by the sounds of everyone's suggestions, that's a bit of a moot point.
  20. Thanks, yeah, I have to say, SA guys generally manage to be friendly, so I'll channel my inner saffer :D. It's cool that MTB'ers are generally friendly and keen to help, so that should make it easier :). I have some of those, I think I'll just start using them now to build up over time. I need to seriously step up my fitness game, though. I've been working on getting pedal fit for SA, but that isn't helping much for the DH oriented stuff. I have a Deuter Hydration pack with a back plate in. Not expressly a back protector, but it has saved my skin (literally) and back several times. You think that will be fine? Good advice on sighting it first, I really don't want to ruin my trip on being over eager. I'll also make sure to pull off before slowing down. I don't want to be that guy on a fails clip where someone sends a jump into you...
  21. That is another aspect to consider, since tyres are not exactly cheap to begin with :D. I was thinking of buying some extra kit whilst I'm in the States before my trip, since some of the stuff is cheaper there than in SA. I'll probably also need to get a DH rated full face, since mine is the enduro one from Leatt with the removable chin bar. Thanks, I hope this all works out, it all depends on me going over for work and the company not minding me taking a holiday afterwards.
  22. Well, I'm feeling a bit panicky just thinking about all this, so I think I'm normal 😂. As I mentioned somewhere here, I just need to weigh up the costs, too.
  23. Thanks, I saw online that you also get discount of you pre book.
  24. Thanks, this is super good feedback 🙂. Unfortunately, I'll by going by my lonesome, so I'll have to make some friends there. When you say hand strengthener goodies, do you mean those spring type things that you can clenched your hands on? I'm terms of buying something in the states or Canada, other than pinkbike, where can I look?
  25. Well, I'd like to ride every day, but I doubt that my body will be able to keep that up 😂. I'll probably take a rest day here and there.
