  1. Bleak it was cancelled, but cannot blame the organisers for making the call they did. Still decided to ride and did the whole route. - Set off at about 7:10am, didn't get wet throughout the whole ride, and conditions were pretty good for riding. Some tough headwind heading into Robertson but over a 202km course you cannot expect perfect conditions throughout... We had an awesome day either way and glad that we still did it ????
  2. I also got an SMS with a different seeding to my original seeding e-mail... Although I somehow went up from & to $ - Not sure if that's a good thing!
  3. Thank you. Will try and get a hold of him.
  4. Hi All, I wanted to know if anyone has ordered from Canyon and what your experience was like? I am considering ordering a bike from Canyon but am nervous to order and pay for something online (especially when I have not had dealings with the company before). I am always nervous of fake websites / scams etc. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Stolen: CKT 598 SP 2017 When: 25 August 2019 Where: Cape Town, Western Cape Apartment broken in to while I was away for the weekend and bike was stolen at around 3am. Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section
  6. I bought 3 pairs at the expo and I am extremely happy with them! Very comfortable and well priced! Keep up the good work guys
  7. Sh*t... This looks very similar to my scam last week... Mine was the other way around though. Fraudulent transfer made into my account for my bike I was selling. I lost R14500 from one of these buggers! Feel for you Bman... Hope you somehow sort it out!
  8. Hi Die Takalani I am busy with that. Hopefully will come to something...
  9. Yes, that will be what I do as well!
  10. I do actually have it under house insurance... but am I not correct in saying that the bike will have had to be physically stolen from my house? Would this case of fraud count? Might give it a shot
  11. Yes, already went into Neils Wheels yesterday afternoon. Nothing there yet. A friend of mine had a bike stolen about two years ago and it popped up there within two days!
  12. Nope, didn't take out insurance as I only just bought it in at end of January from a fellow hubber. Plan was to ride it a bit before Argus and then use it on the day. Was selling now in order to buy a TT bike for triathlon (which now I cannot do) I am hoping it pops up somewhere
  13. Thanks for the responses guys! Appreciate it... Please just let me know of anything you may hear or see. I have sold SO many things on The Hub and Gumtree and never had an issue before... Probably let my guard down just a little bit and then the bloody bugger got me. Makes me feel sick!!!
  14. Hi guys, It was advertised both on The Hub and Gumtree. The buyer was a response to Gumtree. I have got the cell phone number... They still answer but as soon as they find out it is me then they hang up... The bike was sold in Claremont but I really do not think that will be relevant... They can take it anywhere. The guy will be on the CCTV cameras at Engen garage. I have a copy of ID but I do not even think it is even real. Feel so frustrated because I personally met with the guy, chatted and he took it right from me It was a black guy, early 20's, around 1,75m tall, and he did not really have an athletic build. Not overweight, but just average. He was probably in it with someone else though. I think he was just used to do the actual deal and was probably paid a nominal amount!
  15. Hi all, On Tuesday evening I met a guy who was wanting to buy my bike. I waited with him until I got an SMS payment notification from FNB. It even came from what looked like an FNB online baking number... Anyway, after the money had still not come through yesterday I went in to the bank only to find that they had no records of the guy who posed as the buyer. The bike was sold in Cape Town. I really cannot afford to lose this amount of money. Please, if anyone sees a Silverback Detroit out on the road or somewhere please contact me. My number is 0795042638. I will happily pay a reward of R2000 to anyone who can help me retrieve the bike. Please see a picture of the bike attached.
  16. RIP Burry... You were a great inspiration to so many South Africans. Thoughts are with the family. He will never be forgotten.
  17. Hi Hubbers I would just like to know what the differences are between the Scott addict R1, R2 and R3? The new 2011 versions all weigh the same and none of them have ISP... Are the frames the same and price is then just dependent on what components each are sold with? Because I know R1 is sold with Dura-ace, R2 with Ultegra and R3 with 105.
