  1. I was happy when I heard we were awarded the world cup to host. Did not realise then that there would be positive and negative impacts. Many of the negatives are enforced by FIFA it seems.. I look at our team of hopefulls..at last they beat a team of Jamaicans and slip from 88 to 90 place for their efforts. They have been touring overseas and I heard of mega millions of the Lotto money being used to pay for this..wtf..mega millions of lotto money spent on a few, who are unable to score even if the goal mouth was left wide open ..could debate this all day. The roads between JHB and Pretoria that I travel on are looking promising in my opinion (thanks to WC I like to think so..yeah they want to toll it later..so whats new they toll every other road? The Gautrain was not planned for the world cup they say but I guess it could be a huge positive going forward..and I can bet they wish it was finished on time. The stadiums are looking great and I really hope and trust that the local administrators will keeep them maintained after the world cup as I do not think that the revenue income will pay for a stadium like the one in Polokwane if I look at the number of games being played there during the WC. Then the perceived negative effects, Pilditch is closed for two months plus... so no track cycling..Home base for the Americans, so I would not go near there even if it was open :-) Flu vaccinations not provided by the employer so no free Vitality points..will do one more gym session to make up the points A special policy on absence etc during the WC gets draughted..does no one know how to be a good employee anymore..ok do not answer that, it is a retorical question?
  2. Ok you did not specify whether it was mtb or road. If its road you should be shot for using a saddle bag. If its an mtb you should be a survival expert and not need a bag full of spares just your swiss army knife in your pocket and you can fix anything that may go wrong
  3. My daughter is currently first year junior and if I ever hear that she yells and swears at someone that will be the end of her short cycling career.. job or no job good manners is what she has taught and good manners she will have on the road at all times
  4. ok the I offered the dude a tandem (wtf is a tandom) out of the goodness of my heart. He PM'd me and was going to come up to gauteng a couple of weeks later to see the tandem etc..also gave me his cell number (which i never called). Well he never got back to me and I subsequently sold the tandem.
  5. Problem the kids grows up very quickly and around the early teens he/she starts to whip your sorry ass in cycling and you think "hell maybe the kids got talent, lets give them the best" so you buy him/her your dream bike to race with and you are happy to pimp your bike with his/her old spares..
  6. I had just redone my road bike with all the paint work being done by cycle art and new Dura Ace components..on my first ride to test the bike the bolt of the derailer comes out and the jockey spins around breaks spokes on the back wheel, scratches the new paint work frame and then gets bent to the extent that i had to buy a new one, luckily the back wheel did not lock up or I would have gone down in style and seen my whatever one sees when you hit the tar.. ..I was lucky on the MTB as the bolt has fallen out twice but the derailer has luckily stayed in position..is there a pattern here..conspiracy theory springs to mind..I think the LBS dude is after my wife when i kick the bucket in a crash
  7. And then Lolly Jackson keeps inviting me to come visit his club with offers of free entry to the club and cheap drinks etc which is not so bad but the sms's come through in the middle of the night..explain that to the wife..
  8. You have a virtual zoo already' date=' another two birds( feathered ones) are not going to make much of a difference [/quote'] pot..kettle..black..need I say more David Attenborough..but the n you would have more pets if the Husky did not keep eating the parrots and now I have just received an SMS that I have won an inflatable bed from Homemark..terms and conditions apply..how can there be terms and conditions on something you won..
  9. There was a guy giving away two parrots. I emailed him and he let me know that he was originally from the UK but now living in Ghana and that the birds had to move to a warmer climate for their health (go figure Pta warmer than Ghana) and that I just needed to send money etc for the export permits and pet courier charges.
  10. MAXXIS CROSSMARK LUST is my choice by far..
  11. cannot shut them down there are just too many of them to carry on the trade and there are too many people looking to make a quick buck that still get caught which makes it profitable for the scammers
  12. I took mine to the LBS who sorted it out for me
  13. my son crashed on the Bakwena in 2008 and the Giro helmet took a knock so we replaced it. My daughter has crashed on the Velodrome in cpt 2009, Eric van enter 2009, Schools mtb rietvlei 2009 and we replaced the helmet each time as she always manages to fall on her head..thank goodness for the replace policy which although it was not 100% at least reduced the financial burden..(Giro x2, Specialized X1)
