  1. 100% hit the nail on the head there, can't wait to take her out on the trail. For someone who needs a do it all bike, i think it will fit the bill perfectly.
  2. Just reigniting this forum as I'm potentially on the lookout for an STF Frame, recently purchased a Rapide frame where I swopped over my Slade Trail bits, going to be my dedicated trail bike for the steeper stuff, I have a carbon Rapide fork i want to use to build up a gravel grinder. If anyone here has a frame/ knows if someone is selling, please hit me up (None floating around any classifieds at the moment) in a Medium, maybe a large👌
  3. My only issue with the Spez is that pedal to front wheel ratio is too small. 😉
  4. Oh I see, in what sort of riding?
  5. By that do you mean the 130mm fork from the Spez worked well on the Rapide vs a 120mm?
  6. I guess it depends on what you going to run up front Rigid fork through to 140mm will determine the STA & the type of climber it will be. (with a 140 mm it's at its slackest) I reckon with a decent 100-120mm up front it should be more forgiving up front. Don't take my word for it though, my riding consists of me crying uphill, laughing on the way down and then enjoying a cold beer before I even take my helmet off.
  7. So, I actually sold my Slade frame to help fund the Tigre, some interesting comparison stats between the 2 on paper: I haven't had a chance to compare, but I'm running it on the exact same base. (Basically just a frame swop) and new tyres.
  8. I will do! hopefully going to take her out at Heldeberg trails or Plesier De Merle on Saturday & G-Spot next weekend. After a quick spin around the block, I'm really eager to test her out on a decent flow trail.
  9. I used the fork I had from my previous Slade Trail, 140mm Revelation.
  10. So I had a lapse in judgement… gonna sell my full suss and keep the Rapide, she is too pretty to sell, and hasn’t even touched the mountains yet.. anyone here run a 140mm? I have a freshly serviced Rockshox Revelation 140mm fork I wanna slap on, but worried as I want to also use her to train and cover some distance as it will be my only bike.. maybe worth a shorter travel fork instead?
  11. Howzit all! unfortunately I have to sell my Rapide due to unforeseen expenses. I have ridden her twice! Rapide Tigre Size M (Like new) | Hardtail Mountain Bikes | Bike Hub This bike has felt amazing, and I haven't even had the chance to truly run her in, only touched the tarmac, once from Royal Ascot to Blouberg, and then once to Melkbos.
  12. Managed to find an hour out of the weekend to test out the new addition to the stable
  13. Just pulled the trigger on the frame and fork combo.. can’t wait to take her out for a spin
  14. Nice arvo ride and break at the Blockhouse
  15. My first cycle on Chappies this morning
  16. Get an old Scooby Forester XT 😎can pick them up for a decent price, replacement parts and servicing is cheap with a devout following of enthusiasts to give you all the info you need. Plus.. plenty of HP to put a smile on your face, any tow or roof rack for bikes, enough boot space for your dirty crap. plus they are unstoppable in the sand/ mud.
  17. @WIPEOUT 1000 thanks! I was wondering about that, any equivalents available off the shelf in SA? i think a 120mm with an angleset would be a winner
  18. @Marcv thanks for the input! I'm definitely considering getting a 120mm fork, currently I'm happy with the wheels, both 2.35's. (Don't have the cash for new carbon wheels, although it would be nice Haha) waiting on a new bar as the stock one is cracked in 2 places from clamps being over tightened so that's next. Hopefully something with a bit of rise, maybe 25mm
  19. @Fred van Vlaanderen I have a mate that might have a spare(just awaiting size), but will need to then have a small hole to install an internal, or find someone selling an external one, it’s a 30.9 dropper I’d need.
  20. Thanks @Fred van Vlaanderen , im excited to get it out on the trail, just need to save now for a dropper, fresh fork decals and she will be good to go.
  21. Update: frame done by Jared at BMC, hub bearing replaced, new tyres, stem changed, forks decals removed and forks cleaned, and awaiting new bars (the carbon Easton bars are broken beyond repair)
  22. Solo magic link session in the heat 🥵
  23. Hi all! So, I was the lucky recipient of a hand me down 2012 Santa Cruz Tallboy 1, the is in roughish shape so I stripped her down last night and dropped the wheels off for new tires and dropped the frame off at BMC for a strip down and clear coat refurb. The rest of the parts are all working, but extremely grimy and gritty so a few questions for the experienced tinkerers out there: 1. I would like to restore the bike into the best possible condition. 2. It's the XC version and I love my trail riding, any advice on bringing this old beauty into the modern era? 3. What's the best and safest product to use across all parts to soak/ clean all the grime and grease off everything? I will post photos of the bits as i progress and breathe a new life into the old girl. Cheers!
