  1. you can check the difference in times between the groups in previous races(I am not sure what it is). If you got up to a C seeding you should be fine riding in that group. welcome!
  2. Just a bit impossible to ride a A index in the A-C starting group and not planning to ride league, so thats why I am sure it will stop at B
  3. my first cobra, great event especially if you have a mtb background . I wish there were more hilly races like this one on the calendar(maybe there is?). Started in ABC, contained myself until before naval hill(?) moved to the front, stuck with the front bunch until the bottom of ou kaaps, group of them broke away and I just cruised my own pace up. 2-31 racetec time. enjoyed every minute
  4. phoned racetec, will be up within the next hour apperently. lets see....
  5. One of my mates got hit by a car in camps bay about a hour ago. He was on his way to Hout Bay when a car coming from the opposite direction, just right turned up the road leading towards kloofnek(bakoven t-junction) without noticing him, leading to him being t-boned. Luckilly no head injuries but plenty others. Just another wake up call that we must be aware of motorists and we can never trust them and their movements. just plain scary and not good news!
  6. you had a B number? well done man, you looked really strong going away there, pity they caught you! reason I am asking is that I felt I also did a lot of work in the front, especially section from paarl to fruitselllers. And then at the end the group dropped me, mostly the people sitting wheel all day. But only my 4th road race so still learning the tactics and will get there. I also did a hard road ride saturday and I think it caught up with me at the end. Was a fun and well organised event, see you at the next race!
  7. What were you wearing today and what bike were you riding?
  8. hi all Is there anyone/groups doing morning rides in this area. Training alone is not ideal for me for safety reasons. Need to be back home at 7am to get to work in time. Looking at 1h30-2h duration rides at +-30km/h on tuesdays, wednesdays and thursdays. Training for a sub 3 argus. Would be cool if there are any takers.

    YZERFONTEIN MTB

ek gaan dit probeer, baie dankie man!
  10. Anyone know of some district gravel or accessible gravel roads around yzerfontein? heading there for the weekend and need to put some time in the saddle with DC being 6 weeks away. Want to take my mountain bike along. thanks in advance
  11. quick question, do you know Adriaan in picture personally well enough to be able to call him an arrogant little d@@s and f@ckin arsehole or "one of those faces I would like a bat to"? And is Seth Rotherham(self proclaimed hater of cyclists or prawns as he calls us)(read his blog if you haven't done so) the measure of the name us as cyclist have? Skipping a red robot is not right but I would love to hear both sides of this story, I cannot believe that Adriaan is personally attacked here without him even been given the chance to explain what happened.
  12. i thought it was just my medium that was made to big. The medium would fit bismarck du plessis, its a pity because its actually not that bad looking and I wouldve liked to wear it.
  13. what a great event. The one thing that was misleading was that checkpoint 3 was at 152km and not 146km as it was supposed to be, so I nearly dehydrated in those extra 7km of climbing as I only took one bottle for between 2 and 3, luckilly my one teammate had a little bit of juice left in his camelback end we shared it. The descent into the valley was tough and technical and the big climb replacing MAC was a killer, especially after getting our feet wet in the river! apart from that the route was nice and fast. This was my first baviaans and we managed 11h04, cannot wait for next year.
  14. probably builders warehouse or any HARDware store....
  15. Get some for me too please and bring to the start in willowmore!!!
  16. route changed. In comparison I noted that we will be dropping elevation much slower than the old profile up to 130km, then lose most of the elevation after the monster climb replacing bergplaas(800m in 10km)
  17. I see we need a space blanket to carry with us. do anyone know where one can buy this at a reasonable price? I see on the internet that it costs R40 at cape union but R10 at paddle centre but that is in fish hoek, bit of a drive.
  18. hi do anyone know if normal PPA seeding apply for this race or will it be like the argus mtb where an event seeding will be done? if the latter is the case when will we receive our start groups?
  19. do anyone know if there are still accomodation availible in the Willowmore area for the friday night and were I can look for accomodation? 4 people
  20. thanks sounds good, might put both on then. Should work well for Transbaviaans.
  21. is anyone using this tyre? what is your take on it? I am currently running schwalbe rocket ron on the front and racing ralph at the back and I like them. The back tyre is finished and I have two of these Bontrager's at home, will it go with the Rocket Ron(still got plenty tread) or should I put both on the bike? advice will be appreciated

    MTB ADVICE

HI I need some advice, I just got a XT front deraileur on the CWC sale(basically for free)and want to know how to use it. I am currently using SLX at the front and XT at the back. Is there a big difference between XT and SLX front deraileurs? should I put the new XT deraileur on or keep it as a spare and carry on with the SLX?
  24. hi is die nightrides elke woensdag?
