jaco I bought a Cube AMS pro elixir R(2010) 2 months ago locally from a shop in durbanville. I had a merida hardtail before(aswell as a merida roadbike) and it took a lot for me to change brands but I havent regretted it for a second. This bike is awesome, its fast, comfortable and everything I was looking for. It also looks good and is quite light for a alu dual sus, I think mine weighs 12.4kg with pedals. I was also lookign to import it but ended up phoning the local distributor Darryl Opie and decided to buy it at my LBS who in turn supplies the after sales service. I could not get a similar specced bike for under 5k more!! you cannot go wrong with this one, so my advice is go for it! cheers i attach a pic of the ams pro elixir R

I disagree with you. I also lived in KZN and did karkloof, jeep multisport series etc. I dont think they differ much from what you got on sunday. I thought sunday was great and compares to the best and most balanced ride ive done. Technical rocky climbs(the 2nd one), technical and fast decents(I normally measure the technicality by seeing if its possible for me to remove one hand off the handlebar whilst riding, there wasnt much time for that on sunday), just enough singletrack(if its too much you wait too much behind slow riders which buggers up the whole experience and stops the flow). if you only moved here in december, you will also experience your first muddy cape winter and believe me that will spice things up, with more river crossings, muddy sections, etc. lots of cool races coming up so try them out and decide for yourself which one compares best to what you are used to. happy riding

oh yes and the 50km ended up being 54.6km. Surely no that hard to get the distance correct.

these people that organise these races boggle my mind, firstly I havent received any info via email for more info on race start, race nr etc. Secondly they charge R180- for entry, that is R80 too expensive according to me. Thirdly we will probably not get a goodiebag thats for sure. No route profile or map?! and the the biggest joke of all is the prizes as per their website: Men 1st Place: R500 Cyclelab Voucher, Cape Times tog bag with goodies, Camper Chair, Picnic blanket and bicycle lock. 2nd Place: R200 Cyclelab Voucher, Cape Times tog bag with goodies, Picnic blanket, Flask set and bicycle lock. 3rd Place: R100 Cyclelab Voucher, Picnic blanket, Flask set and bicycle lock

Schnavel, I am in M and very keen for sub 3:30h, did a 2:46 mtb challenge(for what its worth) and feeling pretty strong. Will be wearing a lime green top, black bibs and white shoes, white merida bike.

okay so now some people convinced that its not too expensive and I bought a pic at 12o ' clock, but it is still not availible as they are still busy uploading the full size images??!!! so you pay first and then they upload, and then you must periodically go and check the link provided if the pic is ready for download. 4hours later and nothing yet, I am sorry but its way too much effort, added to in my opinion a too expensive price.

I see the argus mtb challenge photos are out and on actionphoto.net. the cost for a digital copy is R47.60, that is after a 10% discount! Am I the only one that thinks this is ridicilously expensive for a digital copy that gets mailed to you? this is also the cheapest option as the hard copies are more pricy.

hi I bought a garmin 305 forerunner form bikeinn.com, it cost +-1600 incl DHL and with customs/duties came to about R1850. not exactly sure what the rate was but it was probably just VAT. cheers

hi I had a renault megane shake it, probably the hardest car to fit a bike carrier on. got a Saris Bones at cyclelab, awesome product! google it and check it out. cheers
