  1. I have to say I agree the more you ride the stronger your legs will become. It does take two to three years for a person's cycling muscles to really develop. I also had the problem of being very fit yet I did not have strong legs. Just remember to not push it to hard to soon or you will end up tearing a tendon like I did.
  2. I have also been diagnosed with patella femoral syndrome, but I was not convinced it was patella so I got an MRI which then confirmed that my Quads tendon had tears in it. That's just my story but if it is patella femoral remember to stretch daily and to strengthen the correct muscles. It takes long so good luck.
  3. Hey try the maties as they have mountain bike rides once a week. I am not sure when they ride though but I can find out.
  4. Just buy a cheap comfortable seat or try riding with two cycling shorts on. I used to have a carbon seat on my bike and that was really uncomfortable. Also have a look at your setup as that can have a big effect on the overall comfort of your bike.
  5. I also one day went climbing and forced it and it lead to tears in my tendon which means that for the next 12 to 18 months I cannot ride hard. Only high cadence in low gears. If it is tendonitis/tendonosis as in my case then an MRI will show you the tears.
  6. My first mountain bike race and I enjoyed it. Thank you Burger and everyone who helped organize this race.
  7. I did go to a sports physician at the university's sports institute and he diagnosed it has patella femoral syndrome. My left leg was weaker than my right by 20 percent but it is getting close to normal.
  8. Thanks TNT1. The first time I felt it was when my cycling shoes adjusted themselves and I did not notice it and after 25km I started feeling it. I stopped for two weeks and after 6 weeks it still is not completly gone.
  9. Runners and cyclists, but more runners get it. My problem is that my left leg is much weaker than my right leg because of 3 knee operations, but I am working on my left leg, but my right leg just worked to hard to compensate.
  10. Hi guys is there anyone out there on the hub that has had this? I know what it is I just want to know how other people treated it and got over it? Any help will be appreciated.
  11. As someone who had multiple knee operations and has injured almost everything in my knee I can tell you get any doctor with a good reputation and stick to your rehab program. 5 Years after my first operation and I am still struggling with rehab because I did not do it right the first time. Also I know Spike Erasmus is very good if your are in the western cape.
  12. I should have added that I am a student so I can train at that time. P.S do not worry next year at my job I start working at 06:45
  13. Personally I believe if you have lighter rims with better hubs than you will see a difference on your times. But yeah the best way to be faster is to have stronger legs and be fitter.
  14. Say a expensive carbon frame that is lighter than my Al-frame and say the carbon bike has like Ultegra or Dura Ace and my bike has Tiagra

  16. Hi guys I just want to ask out of your own experiences how much of a time difference can a better lighter bike really make? I ride a entry level Al-frame how much faster would I be on a good carbon bike?
  17. I must be the outcast , but I like to train at 3pm. You just need to get your eating right otherwise you will not have energy at that time. But I have to add that we have good roads to train on so I don't mind the traffic. Also you build up a nice tan if you ride at that time and it is not to cold.
  18. Hi I have used creatine extensively. However you should not use it constantly as a cyclist. Basically when you use it you do not hydrate well enough if you are cycling and this later affects your muscles and you will feel tired and powerless all the time on your bike. I have seen this happen to a good cyclist. Hope this helps
  19. Ok cool thanks for the replies guys. I am looking forward to buying my SRAM Rival groupset from them
  20. Hey is there anyone out there who has bought anything from www.buycycle.co.za. I want to know if they can be trusted.
