  1. Ceres, is it pre-entry and if so where?
  2. I currently own a SuperFly 100 and a Shova. I tested the PYGA this weekend. For me its as if the SF100 and the Shova mated and the PYGA is their love child. I have placed my order and will be selling both the SF100 and the Shova.
  3. Available from CWC for R299. http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/aest-external-threadless-headset Anybody tried one? got anything good or bad to say about them?
  4. A colleague of mine at work, who is not a member of this forum, had exactly the same experience as others have posted here. He had two bikes stolen from his house in Claremont and on searching for them was tipped off by another bike shop that he should check Neils Wheels. He called Neil who denied having the bikes. However when he went round to the shop he found the two bikes in the alley behind the shop. Neil then blamed his staff for buying the bikes. All the accessories (saddle bag's, speedo's etc) had been stripped from the bikes and Neil at first said these were never on the bikes. On being pressed however he then managed to find the bits and pieces. Both bikes were then returned to their rightful owner with Neil protesting his innocence. Clearly Neil is knowingly buying stolen property and is one of the people creating a market for thieves and bike jackers.
  5. Nice one, thanks guys
  6. Forget the Coke! Where is the best place for a Burger and Beer after an evening ride at Tokai? Should be withing 5 minutes drive and be friendly to dirty smelly bikers.
  7. Thanks all for your input - seems like an anti seize compound is the way to go, but I will drop Roger M an email as well and see what he says. cheers
  8. Hairy You dont get a choice with the SLR spokes they come with the "nipple" already on the spoke and I believe both the rim and spoke are aluminium (stand to be corrected) and that they do have corrosion and seizing issues. Yes, was hoping JB would come to the party with some wisdom
  9. Thanks Splat Anyone else got any ideas??
  10. Hi I am building a set of Mavic Crossmax SLR wheels. I have read that when building normal wheels its a good idea to lightly oil the spoke threads and rim eyelets (Roger Musson - Professional Guide to Wheelbuilding 5th Edition - www.wheelpro.co.uk). QUOTE: "The purpose of the oil is to reduce friction and allow the nipple to be tightened to achieve the correct tension in the spoke". Any wheel builders out there that would know if the same applies to the Mavic's or if something else should be used? Thanks
  11. I experienced a very similar thing two weekends ago - did a 95km training ride using 32Gi for the first time and felt great up until I had an energy gel with an hour / 15km or so to go - had a major spike and drop. Thought about it afterwards and also came to the conclusion it was stupid thing to have done This weekend did a 110km ride just drinking 32Gi and felt fine throughout.

Sorry 20niner, wasn't trying to wind you up - Too right it is a difficult thing to diagnose from a distance - lots of variables! Good luck with it Freak

Except that when released the cable is again pulled taut by the spring in the derailleur up to the next ratchett in the shifter - the only point at which the cable could be totally slack and have some "loop" in it is when it is at the end of its travel i.e. in the smallest or biggest cog (depending on whether its a hi-rise or lo-rise mech) Quite happy to defer to your 22 years of experience but it still doesn't explain why this problem only arose when the new derailleur was fitted and didn't occur before ??

Please explain the mechanical principles behind this statement and also why if the housing was not causing shifting problems with the previous derailleur it suddenly became the the cause of the problem with the new derailleur ?

housings are unlikey to cause problems in just a few gears - housings that have become corroded inside will cause your shifting to be sticky or hard to shift
