    Emperors Race

    Awesoem race, did the 50km. Only little gripe I have was the start, there was no clear indication for cyclists to keep right and go into the start pens. As a results there were lots of guys going down the road into on coming motorists, even saw some chop smack a taxi side mirror, not sure why as he was in the wrong place(although on his behalf there was no signage to say that) Marshalls should have forced guys out of that road if there were using it to let traffic through

  9. I have just purchased a road bike for the 94.7(well not only) Took it for a first spin this weekend round the Cradle, shaved about 35min off my 70km time. My wrists feel it the most as the position is very different. I think you'd be fine to use the bike for the first time at 94.7. But I'd try get in a quick ride during the week, even 10km just to make sure everything is working 100%

  11. Hehe, typical hub responses. I have the rims already, so R220 a tire is much cheaper than a 2k bike, and I have to do the same for my wife so it will be MUCH cheaper than 2 road bikes. Will get some extra mud to decorate the bike before hand @Alouette3, have you tried the 1.6 as well? 1.3 sounds rather small
  12. So I am going to tackle the 94.7 road race this year and instead of getting a road bike I am going to convert a spare set of rims to a "road" setup.   13. Wow, I'm amazed at what I've just read. All those who bitch about the route, why don't you give it a go. Try plot out 4 different routes starting and ending at the same place for the 4 distances. Oh and make sure that the 8year old is as happy to ride as the racing snake who does the 70km and wants its super technical and also the 70km joller who just likes to get out and ride. As for all the passing comments, its a 2way street, I will do my best to move over if you want to pass me, but 1 have paid my money too and am also trying for my best time. Let me know you're there and want to pass and I will do my best to move over when its safe and I can actually do so. Its not required that I do so, so a thank you will help me do it again next time. Be considerate of other riders, both slower and faster than you. If you don't like the bottlenecks etc, don't ride. No one is forcing you, we all know how many riders there are and that there will probably be bottlenecks at some point, deal with it or ride somewhere else. As for the organisers, you guys need to be more accurate on your distance, we plan our ride around them(water and pace) All those thorns was not a great idea, I'm sure there were tons of punctures and injuries. Looking at the programme for the day, you knew the 10 and 70 were going to finish at the same time, ARE YOU CRAZY, its nor fair to the kids and families doing the race nor to the serious riders, think a little. Also having to doge the workers erecting a fence and the dongas they were digging, NOT COOL Maybe you're numbers limit is a little to high, and I think you need to seriously consider your "googie bag". Socks and bottle are at least relevant to MTBing, stew and moisturiser!!! seriously. Rather charge less and don't offer a goodie bag Overall, great day out, Nice hard route, sure I had to walk, but so what its MTBing
  14. There was a fair amount of single track, ended up riding in a long line for quite some time. Nice route thou, hope it isn't burnt again this year, that smell lingers for ages

  16. If you're wanting different lenses for your Rydon, Linden cycles, bought the new Polar 3FX as a spare, cheapest and best service by far. And as for lense options, there are hundreds available
  17. I am there or the vibe, but I also have respect for my other cyclist. When you join a ride that starts at 19:00 do you rock up at 19:30? 5/10min sure but if it carries on like this we'll be riding on sat morning, show some courtesy to others and be on time
