Some good advice..... If cycling is your sport, then treat your LBS like he is your lawyer, doctor or accountant. You must be able to call him any time, day or night - no questions asked or prices for that matter. When you need him he is there for you. So instead of trying to save a buck create a real relationship. BTW. Watched this TV program on gambling. This one lady spent like $4m over 7 years at this one casino - and she says she enjoys gambling no regrets. When she walks in the door they rush to carry her drinks and make her comfortable. When her husband died they even had a memorial service held for free for this lady's husband. Anyway she is a valued client.

My first MTB ride was Malmesbury - hell it was tough. After that it was really enjoyable.

Get into MTB rather. The Argus should'nt be the focus of your cycling, as it is only 1 ride. The whole roadbiking scene is geared for speed and time, rather than enjoyment. On an MTB you really going to be pushed out of your comfort zone, which equates to great fun.

@ King_Crispy - perhaps that is the next trend after the present 29er craze. So give it maybe 5 years hehe... BTW. How are we going to invent new trends if we keep on Googling everything! Common don't restrict yourself. Lets apply a scientific approach by perhaps testing the "hybrids" on a course.

Exactly - therefore the experiment. Perhaps 29er with 26" wheels is better on technical trails.

So I was wondering - since i have all this free time during the public holidays - whether you can put 26" wheels on a 29er bike. (Un)fortunately i dont have a 29er yet to test it on, but its a fascinating experiment. 1. Experiment 1 - Replace 29" wheels with 26" wheels on 29er bike 2. Experiment 2 - Front wheel 29" and rear 26" - on 29er bike An obvious burning question is handling. Are there any hubbers prepared to do same experiments and feedback to us.

So now it's up to giant 29er vs specialized epic comp 29er.

yeah Giant got it wrong with the chrome frame finish - that is like so 1980s The carbon look is the in fashion now.

I think Silverback is about +- R 19000 and Giant is +- R 29,000 So 10K difference.

I rode on a Specialized dual sus XC (i think 2008 model) with RP2 shock. So the Brain is much better than RP23 (RP23 has 3settings i think)

Hi - I'm considering getting a a Spec 29er dual sus. How is the rear spec brain shock different to the FOX RP23 shock. I have a Hard tail and only took one ride on a dual sus with RP2 shock. Boy was i bobbing all over the place.I hated it - and really suffered up the climbs. Would appreciate some advice. Thx

Specialized toupe - best saddle I had. After first ride you'll know. Better still specialized provides free test saddles from bike shops. Try it for a few rides to test it befor you buy.

Hi - Can anyone assist with a contact for someone that can repair a small hole made by rear derailer on bottom of chainstay. Frame is a crabon fibre frame of course. BTW. is the chainstay on the crank side load bearing. Thanks
