  1. I'd also like to know that as I also drive a diesel. My guess is that there's a higher oil content in diesel, or in the processing/manufacturing of diesel? Any chem majors out there?
  2. Our thoughts and prayers are with him...
  3. bloody good question. Good Idea Monty
  4. Not sure whether this is a feature of all races but I seriously forgot to collect my race number for the FAST ONE a few weeks ago. In a mild panic I went to the start early and to my relief there was a little desk with a box with all the uncollected numbers. The lady was very helpful and it seemed as if this was pretty standard. Maybe they don't want everyone to do this but surely it's reasonable for people who live out of 'town' to just collect them on the race morning? Just take someone to attache the number otherwise (like I had to) you'll have to remove your shirt exposing your pasty flesh to the world...
  5. I agree with Mampara, check out the Raleigh RC6000, if I remember correctly they're around that price but have Shimano 105's.... Worth a look before splashing out.
  6. sorry it took me so long to respond Slowpoke.. thought I'd duck from work early and miss the traffic. Yeah Right!! Will PM you my details but normally a Saturday is a lie-in for me, meaning I rarely am on the road before 6, usually 6.30 but if you want to ride earlier thats no prob. We could meet under the Christiaan de Wet bridge over hendrik Potgieter but i don;t mind riding to meet up with you if you are a ways from there.
  7. slowpoke, I will be riding out West Sat morning. An easy 90min-2hr ride to keep the legs turning for the Fast One. I start from the Builder's Warehouse on Hendrik Potgieter and will probably do Avianto route. If you are gonna be out that way I would be happy to keep you company.
  8. Fair point.... I guess it needs to be determined whether the level of tiredness is appropriate for the race and the conditions or whether there is an underlying cause such as overtraining, lack of rest, too much intensity without sufficient base etc. a mild LRT infection is also worth ruling out. Again, your coach should be able to advise.
  9. agree with the posts above. The coach relies on your feedback to keep the programme relevant to you and to keep you performing maximally when you need to. He will probably be aware of the likelihood of 'flat-spots' as no-one can maintain peak fitness all year round. Lance was the master of periodization.
  10. that scenario really shouldn;t happen... what a nightmare! But what would probably happen is that the guys would go through if it's clear and shout loudly "CLEAR" to the rest.... heaven forbid they have to stop suddenly!
  11. absolutely... defensive riding, also known as having a "kakpraat" session
  12. it was my connection. working now.
  13. Hang on, there appears to be something wrong here, I didn;t post that 3 times.... maybe it's my connection or something...
