  1. mine is 32, want to be 25.. (25 = officially no longer fat! currently considered obese) thats a loss of 23kg and about 22% of my body weight
  2. comeon... your are 9kg more than me and 5cm taller... thats only a tank without the fat people!
  3. fine by me, its easier for me to loose than for someone already closer to their ideal weight :0)
  4. OK, 106kg and 182m ..... I can still fit in my 36inch (= 90cm) jeans but not sure what the measurement is round the 'love handles' I think % loss is good as for a 120kg person its easier to loose, than a 90kg... we could also consider [start bmi - current bmi]/start bmi = % bmi lost which is fairer as it takes into account height. (BMI = weight/[height in Metres x height in Metres])
  5. My first multi sport event, so I just want to finish :0) I am doing the Lite version.
  6. Hi all thanks for the advice, to follow up on some of the comments.. when 'jogging' I am averaging about 8km/hour and only do short sessions 45 minutes usually, occasionally 90 minutes, I am a mid foot striker (is that the right terminology?) so that combined with the low speed means not too greater impact on my body. Food: Have for a long time eaten mainly low GI but slipped into those mega snacks after rides... But I am back on the 'wagon' now ;-) and using 32GI only when I ride for longer than 90minutes, which also helps avoid the munchies ;-) I have decided after the comments to cut down on my work out time and fit in more rest especially as I felt pretty worn out after a week of 25km on foot and 170km biking half road and half single speed MTB... Look forward to any more tips... Cheers
  7. I am looking to loose a load of weight quickly(from 106kg down to 80ish), but find if I ride every day my legs get very sore and I feel very worn down. So have started 'Jogging' in the mornings and planning to cycle 3 times a week or so, 2 MTB 2-3 hours and a club road ride on Saturday mornings. (Of course I may not be able to resist a couple of hours at northern farms on Sunday too...) and do some swimming in my free evenings. I also do Pilates at lunch time twice a week but see this more as a support for my other activities. Will I end up getting over tired or will the cross training boost my fitness and help the weight loss? I am also taking part in the Xterra at the end of the month so need to include some swimming and jogging (I won't call it running the speed I go) Do I need to make sure I have one day of REST every week, will one day be enough or should I plan two? What do you guys think? anyone with experience? Cheers Iain p.s. I do use a recovery drink after sessions, usually instead of a meal.. and otherwise have a relatively balanced meal plan which has worked for me in the past regarding weight loss and maintance.
  8. Hi all, I have done tubeless conversions - Bontrager rim strips and juice, but both bikes (26r peace (rigid) and a 29r Gary fisher) have had some side wall punctures which were only just fixable with 'fat worms'.... So..... looking for new and more robust tyres, for the peace they need to be at least 2.2 inches wide, for the GF smaller is also ok, not too worried about weight, more about side wall strength to avoid that psssssss sound and the time spent fixing it, and handling on mainly dry dusty/rocky trails.. my regular ride is groenkloof. Any body had good experience with a cheaper brand? currently I have Bontrager 'tubeless compatible' tyres (2.2) on the GF and WTB exi Wolf (2.3) on the peace. Cheers
  9. I have a GT Peace 6r (wish I had waited for the 9r's) standard apart from flat pedals, scratches and tubeless conversion (done this morning).. and a bent seat post ;-p
  10. have a look here :http://www.obike.co.za/ they have some...
