  1. I still can't even find 20 inch presta tubes forget about removable cores. also you can't push a presta valve through in a tubeless tyre as it will be very hard to push it back in.
  2. Rebas are best value for money. I couldn't notice big difference between fox and reba
  3. While trying to find 20 inch presta tubes. I found out that Schwalbe make schraeder tubes with lock nut. what bike shops sell schwalbe tubes.

  8. I think this may have been covered before but i couldn't find anything. If you have a mtb crankset could you put a road chainring on it like a 52 tooth so you could get more gearing in a road race. would the deraulliers be able to handle it.MTBiker2008-07-15 06:46:17

  10. I am going to try a bmx tubeless conversion. I left the tube hanging out as in in BigBens picture. Do any of you who have done the conversion experience friction at the point where the rim and the tyre attach, as the tube is in between. I am worried the tube might wear out. I noticed that the Joes/Stans strips seem to cover just the bottom of the rim.
  11. This is how you can put tyre sealant in presta tubes if you dont have removable cores or don't want to use sludge. Deflate the tube. Take pliers and remove the brass nut. Push valve core into tube and hold inside the tube. Pour in tyre sealant. The hard part is getting the valve core back down . Push the valve core into the valve stem pointing downward some nifty shaking and pulling with needles is required to get the valve to fall down. Once it is down hold with pliers and screw on brass nut. And its done.
  12. After a thorny race i got home and found lots of punctures. My slime got me home with no air loss but patched the holes anyway . I had like 8 holes per tyre. Would tyre liners help for less punctures or not. MTBiker2008-06-19 12:50:48

    Broken chain

I bought a new mt bike ,it came with a shimano Hg-73 chain, and on the 3rd ride the chain broke.when it broke the whole link bent sideways like this pic Then 1 or 2 months later on a long mtb race the chain broke 4 times. I replaced it with a spare HG-53 chain i had and it was fine for a while 5 months later it broke again. Is this a bad chains or a bad setupMTBiker2008-05-14 08:52:27
