  1. After my accident and some bills that the medical aid has not covered, as well as the damage to my bike after being hit by a motorist. I was told I can go to the small claims court and claim up to R12000 for damages, has anyone ever gone this route, any info or experience would be much appreciated
  2. I do have 2 eyewitnesses, I tried to get them to come with me to the police station for a statement, but there is allways a issue, so what I have done is I got the form from the cops and willl let the eyewitnesses fill in the details at their home(hopefully)and then try and get them officialy stamped by the cops, fingers crossed.
  3. I was involved in a cycling accident on the 26th of January. I was hit by a motorist and spent 5 days in a coma and a month recovering in hospital after 3 operations, and only returned to work last week after spending much time at home getting better. I will need another op. sometime in the future to remove plates. I will not be able to ride a bicycle for at least a year according to the doctors. What I would like to know is what can be done to get back what the medical aid don't cover and damage to my bike or anything else I can claim for. BTW I have been referred to Attorneys regarding a road accident claim, but have been informed by them that there is no guarantee that I have a claim???? The Women driver involved has no insurance and constantly pleads poverty, regardless of the fact that she drives a 2009 325 BMW. Anyone been in a similar situation and could share their experience regarding an accident claim would be much appreciated.
  4. 77kg in Sep. 2010 after a long layoff, the heaviest I have ever been, down to 72.2 with some decent riding sesions in the past months, actually find myself eating more ATM, but allways trying to eat right. I have been at around 68 kg's some 8 years ago, raced all the time, great fitness but found that I would get ill more often, a simple cold would allways turn into something nasty. Body fat was down to 10% back then. I'm 1,75m.
  5. Best bike I have ever ridden, Tarmac pro Now with Kewin Titanium pedals, carbon cages & Sele italia SLR flow saddle, 7.1 kg's, with some freshly acquired fitness, 2011 is going to be a blast. This was also recently ridden but only for a few months, Solis magma, now history.
  6. On a JHB to Durban trip in mid December, on the road between Volksrus & Ladysmith 47C, reading taken in the following car. It felt as if our tyres were sticking to the tar.
  7. Generaly do a 30-32 ave. traning rides, arranged to meet up with at least 3 other dudes at 7am on Lighthouse road Umhlanga on Wednesday 22nd travelling towards Ballito from there. If you around at the time call me Rui 082 830 6493
  8. Will be in Umhlanga from 22 to 29 Dec. looking for roadies to join up with
  9. I used the event more for training than racing so I rode to the start did a casual ride and then rode home again. On my way to the start at about 5:45am I was going up the hill passed Ponte (opposite way round to the route)and I saw several motorists & taxis moving barriers to go about their thing, hope it didn't happen later in the day during the event, at that time there was no marshals at these intersections.
  10. ????? Juniors with restricted gears racing against Elites ??? That can't be UCI, will have something to say about that What are they thinking? Then having women racing with the men? What is going to happen when it comes to seading, there are probably less than 5 women in the country that will be able to keep up with the vets bunch, what is that going to help? Tactics will be out the window it will be a question of the one who suvives in the mens bunch wins. I still don't see the benifit of the changes they plan on imposing, am I missing something???
  11. CSA has no clue, the only thing they do well is make rules that make no sense and re-invent the wheel at every turn, been down this road seen it many times. They make rules as they go, someone new in their ranks comes along.... make new rules, it has always been this way, back in the day when I was competitive and raced licensed (long ago)on many occasions they actually re-wrote rules that totally contradicted UCI regulations. This story of having to be on a team is not new, they tried it in the 90's, and it failed, same for the longer distance for elite / U23. They forced licensed riders to take out contracts either as individuals or as part of a team, at huge costs to riders & sponsors, several of the bigger clubs could afford to register teams but not all could actually afford the costs. They always used licensed riders as pawns to force race organizers to get their way, threatening licensed riders with bans if they did this or that race, they didn’t approve of. The biggest problem here is there is way too much infighting amongst the various cycling fat cats they never see the bigger picture or put the interest of the cyclists first. There have always been 2-3 puppet masters within the ruling cycling dictators with their own interests in mind who only care about 1 thing, their own pockets. Watch this space, it's going to cost a small fortune to register these teams...... My 10c worth for the day
