  1. Green slime??? That bike deserve those blue permatube things!
  2. Will this thread reach 150 pages, or will it die so close yet so far?
  3. Was browsing Strava for Jonkershoek segments, as I know there are pretty steep sections and found this: 4.2km Distance 22% Avg Grade 224m Lowest Elev 1,141m Highest Elev 917m Elev Difference Climb Category Many http://www.strava.com/segments/3961077
  4. I live in Stellenbosch and I'll probably be riding Jonkers on Saturday (I do most Saturdays). PM me if you're interested... Suikerbossie, you're on for Saturday. Me and a mate are going. He's a beginner so pace will probably be slow. Then again, who rides Jonkers to race? Just need to be back home before DH WC starts!
  5. Hi SpiralS, Welcome to the Hub and may you have many more interesting posts. Below two topics that might be of interest to you: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/107303-things-ive-learnt-from-commuting/ https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/133959-whats-in-your-commuting-backpack-and-what-type/
  6. Just to quote myself from this morning... come on guys, it's almost EOB and only half a page to go!!!!
  7. Looks like this be hittin' 125 pages before EOB today! If this was a youtube video, would have had all sorts of endorsement deals
  8. I must say I don't understand CS's comments on CB. "I ride a fake. It's as good as any other bike out there"... I wonder if he paid R90k for his fake?
  9. On Tapatalk on my phone, its 142 pgs already! B-) But talking bout default setting on the web...
  10. Will this thread reach 100 pages or 100k views first? Epic first first post by AA! Will be a llloooonnnngggg time before this will be beat! O ja, happy bday Andrew!
  11. Is it fair to say that AA is the new Hollywood A-lister on The Hub?
  12. Go read the whole thread. Probably about 20 pages on the difference between real, grey and fake!
  13. I've started to read this thread yesterday from the first page... When I gots to about page 30, I saw that this thread is getting more pages faster than I could read through them. I then decided to start reading it from the back, and now I am stuck, because there are so many more pages that I actually have not started reading from the back but actually the middle... Besides the fact that I am well and truelly boggled, this thread is ENTERTAINING of note no matter what side you read it from! From myself, thank you AA! From my company...
  14. I drive 90 though as my car is old and unsafe at any speeds above that :-)
  15. Speed limit is 100km/h on that particular stretch...
  16. I know it is 1m, but the sticker on the back of my car says 1.5m, and that is what I try to do when passing cyclists at 90kph on this road, as this is the distance I would like to be passed... And as an fyi, the stretch of road where Jevandre Pauls was knocked down is a wider road than this one, with a wider yellow line, and maybe 10km from this exact spot...
  17. When riding single file in the yellow lane, 1.5m passing is easy... When riding 2 abreast, one on the yellow line...makes it a lot more difficult. I, as a cyclist who used to use this road almost every day, and know exactly what happens on this road, was merely trying to inform them of the dangers, but this has now spiralled into quoting laws, comments on the width of the road, etc. Looks like a typical Friday on the Hub...
  18. What you guys should know about this road, is that it is under construction with only marked out dots at some places as in the picture. At the moment, cars are driving on the complete outside of the road, using the middle section to pass other cars. Cars are also driving in the complete centre of the road just before they turn left, right or do random things. It's chaos. I usually use this road to commute, but have stopped since construction began, as motorists are driving crazy all over the road. As at the time of the picture, yes, they were riding in the yellow lane. At the time of me passing them, the outside guy was riding ON the yellow lane. On this stretch motorists drive anything between 60kph and 120kph... I was simiply trying to inform people riding on a road I know very well, that it would be better for them to ride single file close to the curb.
  19. This morning, while driving to work on the R304 between Stellenbosch and the N1, I saw two cyclists riding next to each other (see picture taken after the event). This on a road where they are doing road works, a road with no lines to speak of, where motorists drive all over the place and is in the nearby vicinity where many cyclists have been knocked down in recent weeks. Me being a cyclist myself (drinving a car with a bike rack on the back and proudly displaying my 1.5m PPA sticker) I know how things are between motorists and cyclists, so I decided to pull over to try and inlighten them a bit. The one guy came next to my window and I asked him if they don't want to ride in single file, only to get the following response: "We are riding in the yellow line, why should we ride single file". I tried to inform him that besides the fact that it is the law, they are also pissing off motorists and they are increasing the chances of them being hit by a vehicle, only to get the following sarcastic responce before he left to continue riding next to his buddy: "Thank you for the advice, but we will keep riding next to each other." Is it just me, or is it this type of rediculous mentality that is giving all cyclists a bad name?! **Rant Over**
  20. I put it to you, that according to a thread that got a lot of "latest forum posts" the last couple of days, "DIBS" has gone out the window... Think deal might be on...
  21. It's Payday... or as they would say: 500 bucks on its way Rich. From FNB so it'll take a day or so. Ref#: Loupie_for_Riley Good luck on the race!
  22. They did not... think mostly because in both cases, the phone was not actually in my hands but as they say "I was using the mobile device". One flippen ticket actually states: "holding phone while driving"...
