  1. Personally... Stay away from used, unless it's basically brand new still. Just like buying a used car from a certain Wholesaler, you're most likely buying someone else's problems and after you've fixed all the small issues, worn drivetrain, brakes, etc/whatever you may as well have just bought new.. I have that T-shirt lying in my garage. Titan Racing is great, they have epic local support and will help you out when LBS can't. I have a Titan Cypher and it's never let me down. Don't be fooled into paying big money for a name on a frame, at the end of the day they all go to the same place and do the same thing, if you have the cash to waste by all means, just don't be tricked into thinking a R100k bike will give you a better experience or make you a better rider.
  2. I just saw something very pretty at Cycle Lab and picked up the price tag. I'm saying this thing looks incredible and I was surprised such a nice looking Carbon bike was only R35k. I don't ride on the road so I have no idea what makes a road bike expensive, all I know is pretty=expensive.
  3. This weekend past I gravitated towards the only bike I've ever really lusted after, the one that would make me break my virtues and ride on the road... This Gold colour Valerian Comp. Pics don't do this thing the justice it deserves and I really expected to see a crazy price tag in the 6 digit bracket to which I was pleasantly surprised to see was about R35k. If I could halt all the traffic on the roads I'd roll on one of these to work and back and everywhere.
  4. I've found that most people that have something unfounded to say about another brand are like this in some way or other. Overall I'm very happy with the bike and the X-fusion shocks which I think I also ride fairly hard, since it does more than flat gravel roads... So and apart from this one thing which is most likely nothing to do with the shock itself I haven't really had any issues or complaint with the bike or it's components and of the few small troubles I've had they were all a result of the bike shop using cheap rim tape, etc and I suspect this shock issue will fall in that bracket.
  5. Thanks, I think you may be right, the shock worked fine in the beginning, locked out as expected- the lever wouldn't stay locked so it does point to being a faulty lever or like you say a setting. Titan are stepping in to assist, but if all else fails I'll take you up on the offer of the lever. It's very possible that it is a setting... LBS originally blamed the shock and then said there was nothing wrong it was the cable. That didn't fix anything. The shock used to lock out perfectly, there was possibly too much tension due to incorrect cable or sleeve as you have both suggested and the lever would unlock itself promptly, I'd often have to hold it locked with my thumb when I wanted it locked. They then replaced the cable again and now its totally loose, like it's only turning the shock's cam 30% and therefore not giving a full lock, because the lockout is barely noticeable between the 2 modes.
  6. I don't think it's anything against the brand, this one lever was a dud or not set properly from the beginning by the shop... Any decent shop would have swapped it chop chop and I'd have been on my merry way.
  7. It's not, they did some other unscrupulous things to take advantage of a noob but that seems to be the norm in this industry. Like taking a Stans Tubeless Kit to the workshop to "convert" rims that come tubeless ready and then still put cheap rim tape on before they turn around and say the cheap rim tape won't last 🤔 which it didn't, obviously.
  8. I believe it should be? It's not even 1 Year old and I have been complaining and being patient since I got it earlier in the year while there was a shortage of bikes and parts. Luckily I have it in writing over whatsapp. My favorite is when they said it's supposed to be like that 🤣 I messaged the Titan Rep on the hub to check if they really don't have stock before I go the social media route.
  9. Thanks, I'll drop them a mail. I checked their site, they only had new shocks with the lockout which is honestly the last resort.
  10. Struggling with my X-Fusion Remote Lockout lever on my Titan Cypher Dash, it's been an issue from the beginning and the bike shop just "fixes it" which means it latches but doesn't lock out fully or says there is no stock of them all the time, since Feb 2022. The new bikes at the store I bought it from and the ones at Cycle Lab with the same shock feel totally different and actually lock so it's not an issue with the shock or it's assembly and it's definitely not meant to half lockout which is another excuse I was given. Where can I go to get a new one or an aftermarket universal one because my trusted friend Mr Google doesn't have any answer in SA and I don't know if aftermarket/other brands will work
  11. It would have been a very private, apologise in person, no lawyers, get to say your side, pay your dues and get over it situation had he owned up to his mistake early... The hub and maybe a select few other groups would have probably known about it and that's the worst of it. But now... You better bet that his name is gonna hit the papers, his boss and family will all know about it, friends will shun him, riding venues may ban him, clubs will ban him and the courts will now take it all the way with multiple dragged out court appearances with a lawyer, anger management classes and even bail being opposed. .. All over loosing your temper because someone called you out on your BS and overtook you.... My guy, the longer you wait... The worse it's gonna get. Lawyer up and hand yourself in.
  12. Most likely one of those tough guy types that go through life solving issues with their fists, something that I've seen is fairly common. The problem with that type of lifestyle is eventually you will cross someone who solves their issues by the sword so to speak, whether it be a professional fighter, policeman, bouncer, someone with a gun, Knife or other weapon and suddenly you're on the other, much shorter, end of the stick which often ends in an even bigger tragedy where nobody is really happy with the end result. Ye Olde Internet is littered with videos of these alterations in every flavor and it's far from rare. If the assailant really was the man he thinks he is, he should apologise publicly and hand himself over to the Police.
  13. Standard Cypher has 120mm and a dropper and RS (Race Spec) has 100mm and no dropper. I've got a Dash RS 2021 or soemthing, I don't go jumping 3 stories down but hit a few small jumps that feel like it but are probably 100mm off the ground and the 100mm travel is ample. I looked at the new Cypher Sports at Cycle Lab on Saturday... That blue is just ❤️❤️❤️❤️ like it's alrrady been said, it's probably just a spacer so if it really bother you, take them out.. But I say go with the R5k saving for gear and get the 100mm travel one. Enjoy your new bike 👌👌👌
  14. People get upset here when you suggest Titan, but you can get a decent spec BRAND NEW Titan Rogue Dash Hard Tail for that money with SRAM Level Brakes and a Rock Shox fork with remote lockout. Titan participates and replies to PMs about any questions you may have and their 5 year Multi User warranty is a huge bonus. Second hand bikes are a Russian roulette of Bicycles and unless the price is really good it's not worth it, especially for someone inexperienced in buying used bikes (like me who got ripped by Cash Converters) you'll likely end up buying someone else's junk/problems while they cruise around on a new bike for the money you'll spend fixing their old one. If you're starting out, Hard Tail is the way to go, I speak from experience. You'll get the hang of riding and control and gain an extra appreciation for the plush ride of a Dual when you upgrade, if at all. Also Hard Tails rock and are a ton of fun.. they also make use of the best Rear Suspension know to man... Your legs. As for finance, I wouldn't have my Bakkie or Houses if it weren't for having financed them, 2 wheels on a path are better than a few hundy extra in the bank every month. Go ahead and finance it, but make sure you can afford the payments and will actually ride because you won't be able to even break even if you sell it, interest and it's amortization sucks. 🤘✌️ Sorry to those that get upset when a Titan is suggested for new riders. Disclaimer: I don't get anything from them for recommending Titan, but I do have one and love it.
  15. Taking a chance here because I don't know what light you currently have and what battery it has in it, now what your skills or electronic confidence levels are... You could always upgrade the battery it has by butchering it slightly (removing the internal Li-Ion battery and adding a larger external battery) OR... Invest in some of these that are recharged off a standard USB-C or USB Micro port: https://www.loot.co.za/product/soshine-aa-2400mah-usb-rechargeable-batteries-with-usb/swhb-7559-g920?referrer=googlemerchant&gclid=Cj0KCQjw94WZBhDtARIsAKxWG-8vaZgAIejTmAoS_XrSPGC0nBxbVK8ONMVpRUH8UzQctR0RL-GRRGUaAoUmEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Hope this helps...
