  1. Further than it has before, sans the 5-year old 😁. Needed to 'pop off to the shops, so I got some TITS and saved a bit of fuel.
  2. Had the good fortune of spending some time away withy family, rented a bike from the spot we stayed at (saving up for some racks), had a gentle 2km ride with my son just after sunrise yesterday. Rewarding all round.
  3. With the ST's exhaust located centrally, towbar and the accompanying rack is not an option. Also, I reverse park everywhere (quicker to get out), so thought with the hatch mount, that would be less of an issue length-wise, but then with the hatch mount accessing the boot on a trip becomes an issue - necessity when travelling with a 5-year old, so I've pretty much settled on the roof rack (seems more versatile as well for loading other things, and @OVERDRIVE's comment about the trolley sealed it 😁). Coming up with the money for all of this now will be the stroke of genius. Sidebar: I got told this morning I need to choose-cycling or photography (both expensive). Decisions, decisions.
  4. Ouch. I'm heading to my nearest Thule partner on Wednesday with the ST to get the correct specs for the rack (I'm struggling to decipher the codes on their website), and will then try to convince my wife that I only need one kidney. Or save up (but that takes time, and I want to take the bike with me next week 🙈). Or cook the budget.
  5. Thank you @Kameel. Which did you end up getting? I saw on another thread @ChrisFmention not to get the Thule wingbar, although those seem to be the only ones that would fit the ST (from some light reading I did on their site).
  6. Thank you @ChrisF, @OVERDRIVE, @Robbie Stewartfor your inputs, much appreciated. I shall update once I've gotten this sorted. Keep well, stay safe.
  7. This. 🤣🤣🤣. But yes, well noted. Thank you.
  8. Thank you muchly. I'd not thought about the weight on the hatch. Guess I should research the roof racks some more then. Two concerns I have with them are crosswinds, and bridges. Do you think maybe I'm overthinking on these? Also, loading and offloading seems to me like a bit of a mission?
  9. Howdy folks. Starting looking for bike in October last year, a client suggested BikeHub. Been scrolling through here since then, finally bought one off here 3 weeks ago. The threads, and the 'need' to get on the bike is most certainly addictive 😁
  10. 5 times around the block with a 5-year old 😁
  11. Thank you. Please may I ask: 'First buy is a lot of money'. Please may you elaborate? Also, the hang on racks your friends have-are the bikes flailing around/not secure? I've been seeing reviews from folks elsewhere who have them, seems the 'fits 3 bikes claim is not so accurate'.
  12. 2013. The one in the 2nd to last photo you added.
  13. Good day fellow cyclists. Newbie here, 1st post. I've done some reading through the threads, can't seem to find the answer, so here goes. I recently got a Medium 29er, kid's got a Makro bike-40cm (sacrilege, I know), and the wife seems to be getting interested in joining us 2 when we go around the block. I'd like to get the bikes onto the car (Focus ST) when we go away for a weekend or so. Not too keen on a roof rack, and the car has no option for fitting a towbar, so I guess I'm having to look at one that mounts. Any suggestions on one that would be able to hold 2 MTB's, and the laaitie's bike would be appreciated. Thank you muchly.
  14. This. How you have made me laugh. Thanks for the advice though (new here, checking threads on safety before I head out).
