  8. Tonnes of international riders will be making their way down to the Cape to take part in one of the most fun competitions out there. It's all coming together nicely and we're looking forward to the best Night Harvest yet!!! See you there on the 17th! Go to Event Page
  9. Event Name: 2018 The Munga When: 28 November 2018 - 3 December 2018 Where: Sun International Windmill Hotel, North West Category: MTB CAN A BICYCLE RACE CHANGE YOUR LIFE? The Munga is not your average bicycle event. It's a crazy, single stage mountain bike race across some of the toughest terrain south of the equator. A 1000 kilometre rush from Bloemfontein to Wellington in the middle of the South African summer. The Munga was created in 2014 by adventurer Alex Harris. The dream was always to create a race with a huge reward, and this it still the ultimate goal. The first Munga took place in December 2015 and was a massive success. Since the inaugural race, the Munga has grown from strength to strength. New sponsors have joined the team, new riders have completed (and not completed) the mad journey. THE BASICS The Munga runs over a little more than 1000 kilometres. There are 5 race villages where riders can rest, eat and get mechanical assistance. There are also a number of water points placed between 50 and 60 kilometres apart. The race is semi-supported meaning that riders will be provided with support from race officials and at race villages, but will not be permitted to have support along the route. Everything a rider needs must be taken along, or bought along the way. Everything needed must be carried on the bike. Go to Event Page

In sixteen years, the Cape Town Cycle Tour MTB Challenge has become the most desirable one-day event on the South African calendar. And for good reason. The three route options, which offer easy, intermediate and technical trail conditions as they get longer, and are a perfect introduction to the rough stuff for all. Entries are limited, so don’t dither. 60km – 1350m ascent – starts at 07h00 40km – 960m ascent – starts at 07h50 20km – 430m ascent – starts at 08h30 Go to Event Page
  11. Event Name: Kingdom Enduro When: 23 March 2018 - 25 March 2018 Where: Roma Trading Post Lodge, Lesotho, International Category: Enduro The Lesotho boys are at it again. Darol Howes and Christian Schmidt, the founders Lesotho Sky, have teamed up with enduro fanatic Rene Damseaux to develop a world renowned enduro event in Lesotho. Since the start Lesotho Sky mountain bike stage race in 2011, the international mountain biking community has been exposed to some the world’s most insane mountain biking trails. And if this is anything to go by, the planned enduro event will be out of this world. Mountain biking in Lesotho is known to bring people back to the first reasons why they started riding. The trails are made by Mother Nature and in some cases she was in a foul mood, but mostly she was just showing off. Countless paths carved by daily life in Lesotho have created a sheer endless network of trails. On any given ride you’ve got lines a plenty, which means that during race time, there is no bottlenecking over little wooden bridges or manicured single tracks and the only chicken run you’ll come across, is an actual running chicken. On this well established old school MTB culture, The Kingdom Enduro is bound to become the most badass enduro event of the calendar year. Dates: March 23rd - 25th 2018 ROUTES The exact routes and race area will be announced closer to the race. Route director Réné Damseaux & his trail building team have prepared some amazing routes over the past months. All stages are raced blind with no pre-walk or ride! There will be 3 to 5 stages per day, ranging from 3 - 16min. Riders are welcome to arrive early and play in the famous #romarena. Lesotho’s terrain is rocky, steep, loose and very technical in places. To master the trails riders require good fitness and solid technical skills. RIDING 3 days of enduro racing on Lesotho’s best trails Professional Timing & Course Marking Professional Medical Support Water Points & Feed Stations every day HOSPITALITY All inclusive 3 day Lesotho experience Shuttles to & from the airport to race venue Accommodation during event (23rd - 25th March) Breakfast, Lunch & dinner during the event (breakfast 23rd until dinner 25th) BASE CAMP The base camp of Kingdom Enduro is Roma Trading Post Lodge, located in a beautiful sandstone valley and looking at 3000m peaks close by. 12. Event Name: Swartberg100 Gran Fondo 2018 When: 28 April 2018 Where: Prince Albert, Western Cape Category: Cyclocross South Africa's premier Gravel Bike Race. The Swartberg100 Gran Fondo starts and ends in Prince Albert, arguably one of the most attractive Karoo towns in South Africa, it covers 170 km of which there are 3 gravel sectors covering 79 km. The final climb is over the gravel Swartberg Pass, a relentless climb of 28 km, the last 8 km being on gravel with gradients of 13% in places. The Swartberg100, in true South African tradition, will be one of the toughest Gran Fondo's in the world. We have created a course that goes back to the days of old when mountain passes were all gravel and brave cyclists climbed them on single speed bikes weighing in at 16 kg. A course that allows us to pit our modern training knowledge and technology against an old foe, a road surface that isn't always friendly. 17. Event Name: Transcape MTB When: 4 February 2018 - 10 February 2018 Where: Knysna, Western Cape Category: MTB Our Mission TransCapeMTB has pioneered the premium, small field, stage race concept in South Africa and it is our mission to ensure that the event continues to deliver one of the very best multi-stage, endurance mountain biking experience is the world. In addition to offering a truly world class customer experience, TransCapeMTB also has a mission to ensure we make a real difference to the people through who’s land we travel. This we do via various fundraising activities that benefit numerous charities and education initiatives along our route. Our initiatives also focus heavily on job creation and skills development. Race History You’ve heard the cliché ‘It is about the journey, not the destination’, right? Well, the thing is that you cannot have a proper journey without a Point A and a Point B. This is what first got us started on the TransCape MTB concept … We’ve done dozens of South African MTB Stage Races and rides, and the ones we’ve enjoyed most have been those events that took us on a linear journey through this wonderful country we call home. You start somewhere real and you finish somewhere real. Progression along a multi-day journey such as this goes hand in hand with your personal transformation, passing through the landscape experiencing the scenery from forest to fynbos to grassland to desert – and then all the way back again – your soul and your spirit will soar in tandem with the geographic ebb and flow. We’ve said all along that for us, ‘it is about the ride, not about the race’. We want all our TransCape MTB riders to have the time to immerse themselves within every nuance their route will offer on the day. The smell of the Karoo scrub as you pedal through the Rooiberg; the distant rumble of thunder as summer storms strafe the plains beyond Calitzdorp; the raucous racketing call of Knysna touraco in the Podocarpus Yellowwoods towering above you and your bike as you navigate the forests from the starting line… Don’t get us wrong. We know the needs of the mountain biking fraternity, and that there will always be people out there keen to put the hammer down and race for the line. But we also want those Regular Joe’s, Weekend Warriors and Middle-Packers to be an integral part of this amazing TransCape MTB journey. Our dream is that our route organiser will make you fall in love with the countryside the route will traverse. Small towns you’ve barely heard of will pop up on your radar and, instead of creating the archetypal race village, we’d like our riders to disperse into these “dorpies”, eating “koeksisters” and downing mugs of “boeretroos”, while soaking up the special spirit of the “Platteland”. To end off, we feel that some of the humanity has been lost in the process of creating MTB races which pass through towns without bringing lasting benefit. TransCape MTB will be slick, but it will always have heart, and we will engage with everyone – including those non-bike people we pass on the way – to share our special brand of passion. 18. Event Name: Lesotho Sky When: 24 September 2018 - 29 September 2018 Where: Roma Trading Post, Lesotho, International Category: MTB The Lesotho Sky 2018 Race is a UCI class 1 MTB stage race. It covers more than 350kms over six days on raw, natural mountain trails that will take you to edge of MTB Nirvana. The race is limited to only 100 riders. We keep it intentionally small due to the limited resources of the local communities. We are highly committed to our local Lesotho context. Mountain biking in Lesotho is growing as a sport and we love playing a role in this. Although the race vibe is lighthearted, the race is definitely not for the fainthearted. We do not build little bridges or manicure trails. All the riding is done on real mountain trails made by rural life in Africa and mother nature. This is as close as you will get to a real mountain bike race. Be warned, it’s tougher than you think. But a race that will stay on your MTB bucket list long after you’ve crossed the finish line.
