  1. Take sand tyres...like continental mountain kings or specialized captain controls The race is not that hard...just very rocky, sandy, thorny and flat in respective sections A full suspension bike is preferable(for rocky section) but you will be ok on a hardtail Put plenty of sealant in your tyres, preferably running tubeless Its really cold there at night (in the negatives), take very very warm clothing and warm sleeping bag. It will warm up during the day when you are riding. Keep a good eye out for route markings, dont just follow the person(s) in front of you, its easy to take a wrong turn. Otherwise just your normal multi day event stuff. Thats enough hours of training to get you through the event comfortably. Have fun its a great event
  2. ok great, thanks
  3. Hi guys, I haven't been to the crit for a couple weeks now...is it still going right? i.e is there one on tonight?
  4. Hey guys found a partner, thanks
  5. I've found a partner, thanks Hi Guys My current partner for Sabie Experience has fractured his wrist, so its looking like I'll be needing a new one... The entry has already been done and accomodation has already been booked. I'm looking for someone of a similar riding ability and who is willing to pay for my partners half of entry and accomodation. Anyone interested? Thanks, MattGIRR2009-11-07 06:45:39

    Muldersdrift

Yes, luckily, I would've gotten pretty nervous if he had a few friends with him.

    Muldersdrift

It was from the second circle towards beyers naude like you do on D2D. I often ride there alone during the week aswell and have never had a problem or incident, so was a bit surprised.
  9. Hey guys Just wanted to let everyone know about an incident in muldersdrift on Sunday. I was riding alone and a taxi came along side me and the driver said to me "give me your bicycle", I just shook my head and he continued driving next to me for a few kilometers repeating "give me your bicycle". He then drove a hundred meters in front of me and stopped. The driver then got out and tried to stop me as i went past, I dodged him and carried on my way. He didn't try to follow me after that. I don't really know what to make of this but recommend people to be careful out there, stupidly I forgot to take down his numberplate.

    Dura Ace 7900

Apparantly you can mix the '09 and '08 Dura-ace and the statements of not being able to mix the groupos by shimano is BS, read the comments at the bottom of the review. Two guys who have the '09 Dura are mixing and matching without problems. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/gear-shifters/product/st7900-dura-ace-shifter-09-34695
  11. I own the Easton EA90SLX, and have done a few race with the mavics. I personally think there is very little difference between the two in terms of perfomance I didn't notice any difference in my performances in both hilly races and fast flat ones (they are both great wheelsets), the eastons feel like slightly stiffer wheels imo. In terms of quality I was told by a wheel builder the Eastons are the best factory built wheels he has ever come across. From using both wheelsets if I was given a pair I would pick the Eastons, but if I already had the Mavics wouldn't change them.
  12. Emperors palace road race did that in 2008 and Carnival City road race 2008 gave out chain stretch checkers(don't know if they actually work...) I thought it was a nice change from ordinary medals.

    Allu quality

hey, look above, I just said that hmm interesting, would a scandium frame have any better properties than a 7005 frame say other than being lighter?

    Allu quality

I see most alu frames are the 6061 and 7005 series I think, but now what about scandium frames? I don't see a number series there that includes scandium? I am pretty sure scandium bars and frames etc. are not pure scandium.
