  1. Sort of. But the bad storms normally only start around late June early July.
  2. Definitely an attack on the cycling community. And I can guarantee you nobody there can tell them why they had to throw bricks in the road. Somebody just told them to do it. Next year they must bypass that place, because I can sure tell you next year the same will happen. One have to wonder about the new fire also in Houtbaai, not the one that destroyed the shacks.
  3. You must carry some bad voodoo with you. I feel so bad for you.
  4. Go ride some parts of the route on Tuesday. Weather looks good then.
  5. I am more upset at waking at 3h15 this morning than losing a few bucks. Honest.
  6. Wind definitely stronger than Windguru predicted though.
  7. I hope we get discounted entries for next year, or at least at the same price as this year's entry.
  8. I might calm down in about an hour or 2. Right now I am still steaming...
  9. Then they could learn properly and just move the race onwards to May or late April.
  10. The wind will always be a factor, unless they move the race to May. If the organisers are going to cancel a race because of wind, then people will be hesitant in entering the race again from abroad. I honestly also think the protesters targeted the race. The city need to seriously look at this as this might be a future pattern that will get repeated by aggrieved people to get attention.
  11. And they pitched up with deep dish carbon rims and expected not to be blown about. I was fine on my bike.
  12. I feel for the people that travelled far and spend much money to attend this race. I think the wind excuse is BS, and that the real reason lies elsewhere. I believe the wind was worse in 2009, yet many people finished that race.
  13. Eat some extra tonight. The extra weight might help to keep you upright on the bike.
  14. Saw that. Definitely looks like arson as I see lots of fires in a line, and on the NW side of the new property developments there.
  15. Let's look at the positives with regards to this wind. Suikerbossie will be easier, and the heat won't be a problem. I have forgone any ideals for a PB, so I am just gonna have a chilled ride and enjoy it as much as possible.
  16. I am nervous about this wind for tomorrow. The windiest Argus I rode so far was 2014, where the wind picked up in the afternoon only (I started at 9h36 then). Tomorrow is a whole new ball game for me.
  17. No, Chappies not nearly as steep. maybe closer to Edinburgh drive, which is less than a km. I am more worried about the crosswinds going down Chappies.
  18. Muscles in the fingers and French.
  19. I have only one well used BMC kit. Time for new kit. I stopped and looked at some of the Ciovita stuff just before the exit. Really nice kit they have.
  20. The expo was more difficult for me this year, with my missus doing her first. She must have stopped at each cycling kit stand for 10 minutes. She is not much of a clothing shopper, but put her in a sports goods shop, and all hell breaks loose. She has a cycling top fetish.
  21. Watch for a laaitie on a black Cannondale SuperSix, with hopefully a Pure Savage kit, else it will be a Parel Vallei kit, and bright red Sidis. He is super shy, and don't talk much.
  22. OK, I have heard, maybe urban rumour, that in 2009 they pulled people at Smits at 13h00 that have not passed there yet at that time.
  23. What is the cut-off time at Smits? I told my wife and and youngest son they just have to focus on making that cut with the wind from the front. From there it should be better. It will be their first Argus, and they start just before 10.
