  1. last weekend we did a group ride north of benoni... rode past a off road rally... did not realise we were riding on the actual track!! We found a GoPro that was attached to one of the cars and handed it in to the officials... I hope they found the owner!
  2. I do not think so... It would have been a logistical nightmare to do it from there... I am sure it was not accurate at all! This sounds like the one of stats that 95% of all people believe everything they are told!
  3. Something to consider: Your saddle... Your sit bone width... Your seated position... Any one of these should affect the kind of chamois that you need. a chamois is there to protect your sit bones - and the flesh in between. I have a wide saddle -I am using the Adamo saddle- and even the Assos makes no real difference because the chamois does not stay where it should and results in actually causing me to sit skeeef! I find that the ZOOT triathlon chamois... which is just a but of extra material makes for an awesome ride... All I am saying is: in isolation the information given is subjective.
  4. worse!... these roof racks look pretty sturdy... the whole roof caved in... the first time, the back window exploded!
  5. weirdest thing is that he even had this whole system to remind him when he put the bikes up there... But old age is a bi-aaaaaaatch! You only need to forget once.
  6. My brother bought one of those... TWICE he rode his bike into the roof!!! the second time he did it with my bike on the roof rack too!-luckily the bikes were not damaged the second time. If you get a roof rack... make sure you know your bike is up there... He had to get his roof fixed twice... insurance paid more than R70K both times.
  7. With regards to Bike shops, I am currently of the opinion that customer service is for ignorant people and for people who do not know where to look for stuff or what do do with it.. I do my research... if someone does not have what I want... i do not mind driving a few km to try someone else... and finding a new gem is sweeeeeeeeet!! - all the pretty shiny stuff I approach all bike shops without expectation... they are just a place to find the stuff I need... but then I got issues! ..and lets face it all people who work there are experienced - and not so experienced - but have no real knowledge except what there experience has taught them... I get more info from the internet and sometimes I end up educating bike store people about stuff... seriously... and I am not that bright either!! I have to admit... I have learnt more from the guys who work on the bikes than the guys who just ride them and sell them!! Dont expect these guys to give you the best advice... they will give you the best advice that they have knowing all the facts as you have explained to them... you can actually see the look in their face when they do not know what they are saying... and thats cool... they are just trying... I do that at work too! Seriously guys... google is the best source of information if you have a few minutes... for anything... You will find when you know exactly what you are looking for... all staff will be super helpful!
  8. I was actually refeering to Forum Managers and the like
  9. On some over zealous safety evangelists info to educate those who do wrong... I am at a loss for words... actually I am not... I am weird-ed out how the moderators - like juvenile radio DJ's - try to direct sentiment to their own subjective point of view... You are all entitled to your opinion... The guy is a MORON!!! oooh i "name-called"... Leave the idiot to learn his lesson - my opinion... I wonder at the commentators of news events: why the hell do 99.9999% - a statistic i made up - of people watch the news when they do diddly squat with the information garnished... There are loads of things that need fixing: some chump on a bike who does not understand the value of visibility surely does so purposefully - my opioion - and therefore your words fall on deaf ears... rather spend your time trying to fix things that really matter: I will not presume to know what matters to you... so I will not try and direct your opinion... I would like to thank @StuQ922 for posting this... thanx for not knocking the "chump" - ohhhh more name calling - over!... but also thanx for sharing your opinion. If we all agree with moderators then we should just let them run the show... this sounds like something else??? not sure what it is?
  10. "Name calling"... seriously how old are you?!
  11. Just a comment: I used to ride Saguaro in the front and my front wheel was slipping out all the time... I thought it was me... I started taking corners at speed leaning to the inside and holding my bike as upright as possible... Changed to Racing Ralph on the front... now I use this as a back tyre already... and no more slipping out... now when you look at the tread of the saguaro.. it makes no sense!
  12. What saddle are you riding? What Shorts did you have before? Did you ever have the issue before? What is your sit bone width?
  13. As much we have dissed the creator of this thread for their attitude, we should look at the orginisers with regards to bottle necks!... They design the trails.. they know the numbers... its easy... Just dont put the potential bottlenecks at the begining of the race.. Sorted... I think there should be a sorting out zone for at least 5 km when the numbers get high... it should be wide and without sharp turns...
  14. At the Golovane race my bother and I chose not to push through the bunch at the start... we started at the back... there was a huuuugh bottle neck for the first 2km or so... took us 15 minutes to get there...but when we started racing... we just overtook everyone... it was an awesome feeling... B) If we started where we usually do we would have been playing see-saw the whole time... this was a new experience and it was cool!... if we had been pissed about the bottleneck... we might not have enjoyed the cannibalism! Now we just need to get better at the technical sections
  15. My most humble of appoligies... Dudette it is then!
  16. Well the fact that that is the only Outsurance pointsman that I encounter... makes my experience of these guys - real bad.. I have taken the advice of Tjokkits and contacted Outsurance directly... Thanx guys
  17. NIce comment dude... yes I agree with you... but the point of a rant is to do just that... because I know I am a little intense-to say the least- I wanted general feedback... hence the question...
  18. - going into stealth mode
  19. I am sorry... eeerrrrrrggggg!!!! My whole life I have always had to take side roads to work... now I take one road straight... along a major road... not sure of the exact terminology... and since the bloody idiot started there-in Sunninghill/woodmead... it takes me 30minutes longer to get home!! on a 30 minute journey... The cars on the major road are backed up to Gallo Manor-2km... and this moron lets 12 cars from the side road - empties the road... and then 12 cars from the major road!!! Seriously... Just because the people who take the small road are staring at him... he lets them go... whilst we wait for ages... if I take all minor roads now... and go through woodmead and take this little side road... I cut 15 minutes off my route... Now does this not defeat the whole point of major roads and minor roads... Am I alone on this point?
  20. Dude... I have 2 pairs of these(one large and one Medium) ... the top of the range(HOSS)... wore them once... you can have them for R500
  21. @baggyspandex Dude... I have not had the time to read this touchy subject however I have had a similar conversation with another group of friends... Racing is racing and cycling for fun is just that... the format of races allows for both groups to ride in the same groups... For those that have made the decision to race... it is about getting the fastest time possible... and trust me the lighter your bike is the faster you will go uphill... not to mention accelerate... yes you will spend a load of money and time figuring out what suits you best... because you can!! For thoes of you who choose to ride for fun... sweeeeeet it is fun... just enjoy... I just did the Boxlee Golavane race on sunday... raced it... it was awesome... cramped at halfway... finished slowly... now if i was just riding for fun... i would have never cramped because i would have had time to drink and not pushed as hard... but I put myself out there... took the risk... failed!( this is what i looked like)... but at least I tried to do the best i could... and not i am motivated to train even harder and smarter... I have learned valuable lessons like : take the time to hydrate take the time to hydrate and a real good one... take the time to hydrate 250ml in 40km of racing is not smart!! racing is about optimising every facet of your training, nutrition, skills... and if you only ride for fun... you would not see the point... and you would be a lot richer!! but... not as obsessed
  22. buy local buy Local
  23. Hi there... I have been in training since July last year... so I am relatively fit... I train mostly on the indoor trainer... aprox 8 hours a week... I am in training for the Sani2C... my brother-partner for the Sani2C - trains with a Professional (does not want to be named..) and so I am in for a suffer-fest... He weighs 95kg and rides away from almost anyone uphill!!! I could use some motivation... and I guess I also would not mind the company If anyone is interested... ????
  24. Ok I accept that there would be a charge for a human being packing the bike box... mmm...perhaps they should also charge for passenger assistance onto and off the plane... That is more labour-intensive/cost-to-company-per-hour than the packing and unpacking of a bike by an under-paid blue collar worker... There seems to be a fine line between business and PC.... I guess in an ideal world models would fly for free even though their baggage would be 5 times their weight... and my "hairless skinny little runt" will be seen as FAT!!
  25. Well said dude... Well there is a silver lining or a business opportunity to all the oppressed peoples in some form or other...
