  1. Always wondered if there was an affordable way go and life in Europe with our bad exchange rate. Now I get it. Buy MTB, live in tent. Sorted !
  2. Mine is not doing any of the above. Never heard any noice from it. Also had to link it to my phone. It did not link by itself. My wife could also not see it on her phone, even when standing next to the bike. Had to link het phone to the tag as well in order for her to see it. I think it works great.
  3. I count 77 riders in front of him. That is kind of half way down.🙈
  4. So, anyone think today could be the day where MvdP finally starts his TdF? I think this stage might suit him, but then again, I thought the same about a couple of earlier stages as well.
  5. Also sure Phillipsen followed him on that exact same line.
  6. I am sure he looked left, picked the line on the left that was open and clear of any other riders, all done at great speed to stay ahead of the pack, and then launched into his sprint on that line, which he stayed on until the finish.😁
  7. If this is true, they will have even less next year.
  8. Have to agree. I have done a couple of these, including the "when we" ones with the real monster climb. This route was way worse. Don't let the shorter distance and less climbing fool you. This was tough ! That climb at the 38km mark was virtually unridable due to the thick sand, with other areas completely unridable. Lastly, it was completely different than the profile and race route provided before the event. Made planning your ride imposable.
  9. Does anyone know what the distance and elevation for the Yellow loop is at Thaba. I normally do the Green loop - 24km/480m Also, is the Red loop open and what would distance/elevation for that one be ? Other Thaba threads are quite old and the trail has changes a lot recently.
  10. Yes, they seem to be working normally again, although the lever does feel like the last 5mm or so it returns a little slower than the front lever it I pull and leave it to return on its own.
  11. Bought the bike with them on, so not sure of age. Seller said they were about a year old, and I bought the bike about 6 months ago. Guessing around 2 years or so. It was hot during the event, but only later on. This was around 10am. Probably around 26-28 degrees at that time.
  12. Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but found this interesting. I had my Level ULT's serviced/bled at a reputable LBS just before R2TS. Rear were fading before so I though good idea to get it done by the experts. Brakes worked beautifully afterwards. Come R2TS... I have not touched the rear brake for 80km's. At the halfway point I pull both levers when I stopped. This is where the problem start. Rear binding, lever very spongy till about halfway. Tried cooling it done. Nothing. Rode like that for another 20km's before it came loose again. Everyone seems to suggest "swollen seals". Not sure if it is in the lever or caliper. This comment seems to suggest I caused it. Please let me know what I should do to avoid this from happening again.
  13. absolutely agree! Our Saffa culture is big on status symbols (just look at all the luxury SUVs on the road) and a lightweight R150k Trek Supercaliber ridden by a round ballie radiates that baller message... What have I done to get this treatment ? 😁
  14. Reading this wondering, damn, how old are these people. Then I did the math and realized probably all younger than me.🙈
