  1. Thanks for the good reply! I've seen the Merida One Twenty, and personally the look doesn't work for me... Rather made up my mind that the suspension configuration must be like the Cube AMX, Scott Spark or Merida 96..... (I know it is superficial, but I once heard on the hub: "Ride what you like, like what you ride.....")
  2. Hi all I've been wondering about this for some time.... which are best? All things equal offcourse... meaning: comparing apples with apples. eg: Top shimano vs Top avid vs Top magura Not going to compare XTR brakes with Juicy 3.0 Please comment as well.... I had Juicy on my previous bike, seemed to fade.... not that potent stopping power which I experienced with Magura (WOW!!!!)
  3. Hi all! Lived in Durbanville 2006 - 2008, lots of cycling buddies, good shape... moved to the country (ate a lot of peaches....) no cycling... sold bike.... 110kg as of this morning.... Jan 2011, moved back to Durbanville, wanna get cycling again, but have to wait for new bike. Will start on the weight loss however.... Goal is 90kg, as I've got a heavy bone structure.... 85kg would be super cool, but think I would look septic.... So, gonna start on this challenge, eating and jogging firstly, till I get my Scott/Cube (still deciding) Jaco
  4. I happen to live in Durbanville!! Which shop?
  5. Locally between R20 and R22k Chainreactioncycles: R15800...... Company where I work is an exporter, but this strong Rand certainly helps with buying bikes and parts!! Haven't bought anything through Chainreaction as of yet, so must first find out if there is any reason not to....
  6. The canaan is Mongoose's cross country dual susser, 100-120mm of travel. The Teocali is more of a trail bike....
  7. Hi all I was an avid mtber a few years back, but circumstances forced me to stop cycling and sell my previous bike. I am now looking to get back into things (maybe not immediately, but soonish) and I am browsing for my next ride so long... What is your opinion on the Cube AMS 100 Pro LTD? Seems to be properly specced and its absolutely drule worthy for me!! Also: In terms of ride, anyone with knowledge for me to compare to my previous bike? Was a Mongoose Canaan. Thanks!! Jaco
  8. Hi guys and gals I'm coming to potchefstroom next week and will be bringing my bike. Anyone doing any mtb rides please give me a shout, as I don't know the routes. Thanks! J
  9. Yip Lurker, you caught me..... this is going towards my Vitality points as a bonus!
  12. I probably should have mentioned this earlier.... but I am rather specific that I want a polar, not another brand...... Not saying Garmin and Suunto isn't great brands, but I specifically want a Polar...... with the Weblink option, so it should be a newish model....
  13. How big is the GPS unit and where do one mount it?? I am trying to go for as few sensors and different units as possible....
  14. I currently have the blackburn delphi.... it is "heel ok" regards to heart rate and cadence.... but it doesn't give you the detail regarding graphs on your computer for analysis afterwards.... that is what I'm looking for now.... also no running option on the Blackburn.... biggest drawback on my current Blackburn is it has no altimeter... but I no the better models does... maximum speed not a must while running, and the cycling sensor has all the speed details...
  15. Very good detail on the frame! Well done TokenFreak! As for the design....... anything Armstrongish is a no-no for me.....
  16. Spinnekop, I did a bit more research and found that the S725X or RS800CX would definitely be the way to go. If you get the GPS with RS800CX does it mean you can measure speed and distance without other sensors? If so that would for sure be the way to go, seeing that you have to buy the footpod as an optional extra anyway..... what do you use? my friends all use the S725X for cycling and running, but they don't have the GPS function..... so I'm thinking RS800CX, because we all know that you have to have cooler gadgets than your buddies!! Found pricing to be R4500 for the S725X and R5500 for the RS800CX.
  17. Ok, I'm thinking of entering the world of heart rate training.... here is some questions: 1. What is the pricing for Polars which can download my data, and give me altitude as well..... 2. What models should I consider? 3. Is there polar monitors that can be used for both running and cycling? But that is a bonus, cycling is the main "must have" Thanks!!
  18. Can I please get some opinions on which mtb shoes will give the most bang for the buck? I'm in the market for new shoes. Have been riding Olympic Hurricanes for 3 years, so due for a new pair, without breaking the bank. My level of riding doesn't warrant spending excessive amounts of money on apparal and accesories. Believe me, I love the R3000 pair of Specialized as much as the next guy, but simply can't afford it. Some advise please!!!!
  19. Goeie vy!!! R3500 vir 'n SID?????!?!?!?!?! vir 'n 2009 model? hoe kan die 2009 SID goedkoper wees as 'n 2007 Reba? sale of te not, something fishy!
  20. I don't know why I do this..... always get myself worked up over an upgrade, when I KNOW I shouldn't spend more on my bike...... especially since I got married and my wife's eyes are almost permanently rolled over..... She did say I can get another upgrade when I win a race...... thinking of enterering a 10km funride this weekend......
  21. When it comes to front shocks, how safe is it to buy second hand? I'm thinking: R4000 for the new Reba SL vs R4500 for a second hand fox float..... mmmmmm
  22. Right, will be riding majik forest area Sunday 26/07 at 08:00. Everybody welcome!
  23. Was this such a stupid question?
  24. Ok, since this years epic I've been wondering about double chainrings on a mtb instead of the normal tripple.... What is the advantages? Why would you prefer double? What is the tooth count options? Can someone give me some info? Also, what brands are available?
