  1. I was cycling around CT today and saw not one, not two, not three but FOUR folding bicycles tootling around. Seeing as I've just bought a Mezzo folding bike I was quite surprised. Clearly that's the cutting edge of cool now...

  3. Night ride tonight starting from under the Green Point circle thing (near the Macdonalds) at 9. Last time we cycled along the promenade to Camps Bay and back and it was really great fun. All bicycles welcome. We're trying to get at least 100 people this time.
  4. 1. They are crap refined sugar. 2. People are careless and litter everywhere. Just bring a banana.
  5. Other than Mr Du Toit in Bellville, are there any steel frame builders active in the country?
  6. The perfect stage to ask for bike lanes, bikes to be allowed on trains, and more bike parking. https://www.capetown.gov.za/en/Pages/TransportMonthsurvey.aspx
  7. I Fly, very cool post (and ideas). I think you should put up a blog about this. I'm really impressed and I hope it continues.
  8. Does one exist? Has one ever existed in Cape Town? Would there be a demand for a service if someone started one?
  9. I've just moved down to Cape Town. Previously I was an English teacher, corporate trainer etc, but since I'm inexorably heading towards 30, I think a change might be in order. I have two degrees. I’m very computer literate. I’m looking for pretty much anything interesting, where I can use my interest in various things (environmentalism, cycling, writing, current affairs, travel amongst others) which might lead to a satisfying, productive use of my time. I am even willing to work for FREE for a while, or some sort of internship. Any ideas?
  10. I've just moved to Cape Town and thought that everything would be good in terms of cycling around the city. Don't get me wrong, better by far than Jhb. But I would say every single shop in the centre of the city, including the few that I've visited in the Southern Suburbs, don't have racks to park one's bikes. I know that the City of Cape Town is putting them in around the city (applause) but I find it really random that places like Revolution Cycles, Soloped Cycles and all the others don't have racks to parks one's bike outside their actual shops. Surely all their customers don't come to their shops with 4 x 4s? Also the only business that I've actually seen that have bicycle racks in the Cape Town International Convention Centre, and the Sea Point library. (I know that there is a bicycle map that has been released with parkings and routes etc. I haven't seen it yet. The above is just my impression having cycled all around Cape Town in the last couple of months and having to have chained my bike to stop signs etc for that time.) Thoughts?
  11. Depends where you come from, but why not. Take back the roads my friend.
