Yes i saw this, and very very tempted. just wondering tho, on the Schwalbe site the puncture rating isn't all that high. i have the Maxxis Crossmark non-UST version at the moment, just wondering if i should do it or not... Has anyone raced with the Schwalbe yet to comment??

From what i remember is that the silverback vida1 was +-1k more than the scott. I ended up going for the silverback for the better components. Well i got the Vida 2, simply cos my belly is a bit to big for the vida 1. Overall im loving the bike.

I ordered an 11-28 off crc and love it. lets me spin up some hills when i have wobbly legs.

apparently they only build mtb rims. looking for roadie rims.

Where does one go to get a set build up for them? to the LBS? or do you know of a recommended wheelbuilder in Durbs?

Are there any decent well recommended wheel builders in durban?? i somehow dont trust the LBS anymore.

Hi all. ive got a little dilema that im trying to resolve. i have an old set of mavic askium rims, that are starting to get quite worn, lots of scratches... and not only that im starting to break a few spokes here and there... i keep saying its the massive torque that im putting down, ( its really my arse ). so now the problem is, do you guys think it would be worth it to get the rims re-spoked and have one helleva service on them, or should i rather save that dollar for a new set of wheels? Currently im weighing in the 110kg region, altho i am dropping down. ive been told that the reason they Crest wheelset has a weight limit is because of the hubs, and the crests that i have Shimano SLX Center lock Hubs. apparently the Shimano hubs are a stronger hub. its funny how the stans site says there is a weight limit of the wheelset, but they do not say anything about the crest rims. btw i bought the silvervback vida 2. http://www.silverbacklab.com/web_gallery/vida2.htm

what about something else to consider, whats the weight of both the frames? also maybe ride both the bikes with that frame and see which geometry you like best, Scott i feel has a very harsh race geometry, maybe the momsens are a little more relaxed. also maybe bargain with the okes, ask what price they can do if you pay cash...

well ive just done about 2/3 months worth of looking around and irritating the LBS for the best deal etc. i eventually went for the Silverback vida 2, Just got it yesterday and havent got her dirty yet, but from what little i have ridden of her, damn she is light and purrrrdy. i got her for 9.5k after i traded in my 26'er HT ox-wagon ( Scott Aspect 30 ) . Big up is that on the vida 2 u getting a decent set of wheels, Stans Crest. I got the XL and weigh'd it, 12.3kg. and i recon u can get pretty close to the 12kg mark by just changing the it to tubeless later on. i was also looking at the Scott Scale Elite @ 14k for the bike, the silverback worked out at a better price. oh and btw, the geometry on the silverback vida and scott scales are almost identical! will post again after this weekend on how she rides in the rough

well i just picked up my Silverback vida 2 yest. and wow, what a great looking bike. And it rides even better. got it for 12.5k, but i traded in my old bike, so got it for even less. i weights in just over 12kgs. i cant wait to get it dirty

Hey guys, any heavier riders ridden these rims yet. just wondering cos they have a quoted max rider weight of 90kgs, which is darn low. and im +- 100kg. anybody think they will be alright? oh i do plan on dropping down to 90kg's in the next 2-3 months, but will they hold up until then?

Meaning u have 2 silverback vida's or just 2 silverbacks?

ive checked out the vida range at my LBS, and i tell you, compared to the scotts, merida, they are definitely the better spec'd and priced out of the lot. and in the flesh that vida1 looks amazing!! i was looking at the scott elite as well. but wanted to upgrade the crank to a speed xt crank, but the oke in the shop didnt sound too keen on the idea. he's like i dnt think you would be able to push the gears!.. wtf. anyways im supa keen on the vida. wanna take one for a test ride soon soon. anyone actually bought one of them yet?

ye i dnt know if im gonna buy anything else off CRC, their prices are good n stuff, but delivery and import duties make up for the discounts. sometimes even more expensive. and then when the stuff breaks u got no return value either. Besides i far prefer going into a shop and checking the items before buying. The only thing that CRC have on any bike shop here is the selection of items they have.

ive got a pair of the olympic shoes. not bad at all. bought them around march this year, and still strong. the only thing that gets me a little is that after 2 hrs my toes start tingling a little, and the shoe is difficult to change the pressure/tightness on the foot. but a decent shoe if u ask me.

Ive also been looking at the scale 29'ers. but looking at the elite model tho. if i were you maybe chat to ur lbs and see what the price diff is between the comp and the team. the components look a little better on the team. pity the color scheme on the team doesn't look and sharp as the comp tho...

Phoned them, no prices for 2012 stock, apparently the stock hasnt arrived @ the docks yet...

i stay in durbs, so the only place i know is Urban Cycles in umgeni road. no prices yet, i think i should phone them quickly... SA has a huge Giant clan, but i dnt know what it is, they just do not appeal to me, the anthem looks nice, but not enough for me to buy one. Merida as well, same story.
