  1. Thanks, just heard somewhere that the organisers tell you on the day based on the water temp, and thought that would not work well if I show up without one
  2. Hi all, Doing my first Xterra at Grabouw - do I need a wetsuit?
  3. If anybody is still looking for accommodation, or more beds, nice 1 bedroom self-catering available at R200ppn. Had it booked but got space with my team. Call 028 514 3051
  4. I tried that approach, made no difference. Still waiting for his call back...
  5. The Cape Town branch supposedly ordered a rim for me, I waited 4 weeks for them to let me know what was going on, and was then told that they needed to send the wheel away to have it fixed??? Asked them what they ordered 4 weeks ago, turns out they didn't order anything. Won't spend my money with them, no regard for the customer at all
  6. Wish I could say the same about Cycle Lab Cape Town. Ordered a rim through them for a wheel repair and after three weeks of me phoning them for updates (because they don't phone you back), I eventually get told that you cannot order the rim that I need on its own, and that my wheel needs to go to PE to be built up. Ridiculous!
  7. Get the latest Bicycling Mag, 29er dual suspension shoot-out that's very interesting
  8. I would go ZTR race gold - 1300g per set
  9. I use Cadence Classic Energy and Marathon, excellent delivery of energy from short races to long rides. Finished Karoo 2 Coast in top 100 with smile on my face and only Cadence and some energy bars
  10. My guess is that your eating and drinking routine is fine, you just found that your first 70km is that little bit harder than what your body is ready for. Try to throw in a few 80km training rides and you will be ready for the next marathon
  11. Not specific to this question, but have a look at www.bicyclepower.co.za. They distribute CycleOps, very good trainers with incredibly warranties. Their customer service is also fantastic. I have a Magneto Pro, and it is super quiet with plenty of resistance.
  12. I just want to share an experience of outstanding customer service that I received recently, something that goes amiss in SA so often. I bought a CycleOps trainer, and after only using it for a few weeks, it started making a terrible noise. I made a video and sent it to the distributor, Bicycle Power Trading. They distribute CycleOps powertap products, Indoor trainers, Niteflux lights and bike racks. A very efficient member of the team, Mike, contacted me the very same morning offering me a brand new trainer in exchange for my faulty one, no questions asked. Although this in itself is a testament of their commitment to customer service, they even sent the new trainer and arranged collection of mine on the same day a week later, ensuring that I don't miss a single day of training. Just wanted to share that and say thanks to Bicycle Power, you guys rock!
