  1. I'm glad to hear, i was a little disappointed with S2c this year compared to last year. Not the ride, but the riders that rode. I can't wait for Day 1, i was super excited about it from when they introduced it a few years back and some say the best day on the saddle in SA!!

What was wrong with the riders at the S2C? Was my first time and I loved it.

  2. So, who all on the hub is doing the Berg and Bush this year? Which event are you doing?

I'm back for the 2nd time. Last year did the Great Trek, this year doing the Descent (dates worked better, I actually would have preferred to be in the more chilled event).

    3 WEEKS TO GO !!!!!

My first time and I'm doing the descent. Any tips? Heard it gets hot out there.

  3. So I bought a Thule EuroWay G2 923 from a Cyclelab (Authorised dealer) on Tuesday, had some problems with the rear lights, they did not work/match my car, so had the car toe point checked by Bosal (they fitted it) and confirmed it's all working fine/wired to SABS standards etc.

Phoned a Thule dealer (Boksberg) on Friday morning, told since it was not bought from him, but Cyclelab (according to hime, Thule SA and Cyclelab both buy their stock from the same importer) I have to return to the bike shop, since this was electrical I though I'd rather have a Thule agent fix it than expect the Cyclelab to have to resolve the problem so went to another Thule dealer (Ceedar) this morning, again confirmed the problem, but got told they don't have stock, I then suggested we just swop out the light units/bar with another unit's that they have in stock, hmm, no go, no interest to help further, (at this point the techie helping me disappeared and maybe a manager returned with a phone to his ear, on the phone with Cyclelab) then got told I have to take the unit back to the Cyclelab, basically not their problem since it was not bought from them.

I bought Thule for the name, for the backup/support. Epic failure.

Ye I went to the bike shop, and the guys there went out of their way to resolve the problem, they also did not have the same unit, but they were happy to swop the lights out from a 921.

Making me wonder if I will ever buy Thule again.

Haven't read the entire thread, but just a note that I bought a BuzzRack 3 bike platform a couple of yrs ago and it's magic. Cost R4500. The equivalent Thuli costs R6500 and I've seen them side by side, identical.

  4. i have done trail and race...maybe i should do adventure this year!

You could probably place a lot higher if you do. Have a look at the times, prob a 90min difference for the mid packers like myself.

Think with our time this year, we would have been around 250th as opposed to 550th. ;)

  5.

Please let that be me and my Partner. :D

    Ill pay extra. ha ha

Why is that? You not riding this year? Can I make you an offer for that ticket? How about 13k?

  6. Hi guys, as you guys are aware, we always strive to have the results up on the same day however sometimes there are unforeseen problems that make this impossible, in this case there seems to be a missing file with information of several riders on. once this info has been given to us the results will be posted immediately, it was mentioned that the results will be up by Tuesday and we truly hope that this will be possible, but please believe me that everything in our power is being done to get this matter resolved ASAP

if you need your results urgently please PM me and i will see if i can send you your results

    thanks for the patience !

    What company timed the race?

  7. Just watched the 2013 highlights... What the hell do you okes carry in all those massive Camelbaks?!...

As a first timer, I have to confess that I went completely overboard with carrying food and STUFF with me. For next year, I'll know the water tables are EPIC and you don't need all that jazz with you.

  8. Big adventure that... Carrying sleeping bag, pillow, shower, sink... some of those bags were enormous.

As this year was my first, I was muddy WITH a camelbak in the race. :)

  9. Both routes were def updated for this years event. I think it's taken the Cullinan "soft" ride and turned into a bit more of a challenge.

I'm not a complainer, but can I please ask that the organizers just sort out the distance issues?

Rooiberg was advertised as a 60km, ended up being 75km.

Cullinan was advertised as 70km, ended up being 75km.

Not a "biggy", just keen on having an accurate distance and profile before the ride to prepare mentally for whats coming.

  10. Man adding a piece of media is a bit tough on this forum. Damn the jokes. All I want to do is embed a bit of HTML code / tweet. How tough can it be?

    I'm obviously a noob.
