  1. My brother bought this bike +- 16 years ago for R1500-00. The thing is, I don’t know who made it or what brand it is. All indication that I have is on the front fork it says "Okuma Shockwave HP3" Apart from the bent rear wheel, old non repairable rear derailleur, everything works fine. Planning on turning it into a fixie.
  2. Just an update. Silverback agreed to replace the Nabraska frame with a Spectra 2 frame. Along with a rear hanger. Reason being is that the Nabraska is no longer in production. Only thing I need to pay is a new seat post and clamp (Spectra is 32mm and Nabraska is 29mm) and the labour for the rebuild. Good Service
  3. F7.....
  4. jip, like this guy said above me. As long as the bike is in my possesion, the replace it if its a factory fault. I just worried about the next frame and what it will be?
  5. If you want a clean bike, buy a road bike. MTBs are made to get dusty, muddy and wet. Sure it will grind on the discs, pads and drive train when its dirty and muddy. But your not doing 500km in it. Was it after every muddy ride. When my bike is totaly soaked in mud, remove the wheels while washing it, it will get the grinding past of the pads aswell. (F7 = no spelling errors)
  6. Not to sound terribly dumb, but couldn’t it be the seat itself?? My bike, Silverback did the same thing, still doing it. turns out its the seat plastic that’s bending slightly under the pressure of the rider....
  7. I mainly use it for cross country. no fast down hills, no light jumps, fairly rough terrain (Groenkloof) but isn’t that what it was ment to do? the reason I chose the bike was because of the agility and weight. As far as the warrantee goes, it has a lifetime warrantee for as long as I have it.... I have no problem in taking on a different frame, but it has got to be the equivalent to the Nebraska.
  8. I bought my Nebraska way back in 2007. It is a great hard tail 26" that goes like mad on single twisty tracks. Very light and agile. It cracked in 2008, they replaced it under warrantee. In 2010 it cracked again and they replaced it again. this time with a 2010 frame. Now it cracked again, same place as the previous times. Is it just my riding style (mostly cross country) or what? Why does it always crack on that spot? They will probably replace it with a different frame this time. Does anybody know what the replacement was/is for the Nebraska? regards
  9. I have the same problem, even at some stage considered plugging it. but that tends to make you pass out as you don’t get enough air. I do know that the faster you go, the less water comes out. Sorry I cannot help...
  10. Good day All, I know it is kind of late for starting a Charity run on the 94.7 cycle challenge. but hopefully it can still be pulled of. Me and a couple of friends want sponsors for riding the 94.7 cycle challenge with clown bikes, that’s right, Clown bikes. I am looking for bikes that we can borrow and willing people/ companies that will sponsor us per km that we complete, or an amount for each minute that we do it under the cut of time. All the proceeds will go to a Cancer association that we need to pick. preferably a registered one. anybody willing to help, or know of someone willing to help. Please contact me in this regard. Eugene de Klerk
  11. Good day, I am looking for a mini bicycle. I am not sure if it is called a mini bicycle, what I do know is that it is not a clown bike. (see picture) <-- or something close to this I want to do the 94.7 cycle challenge with it. I have my reasons for this........ If the price is good, I will buy it, or maybe point me in the right directions. Otherwise, if someone out there are willing to borrow it, it will be greatly appreciated. It will be taken care of during the race. Please help. Mini.bmp
  12. I agree to both comments. On the 94.7 race last year, me and my younger and lighter brother rode on MTB with offroad tires. On one of the downhills, he slipstreamed behind me and we ended up going at 70km/h. So slipstream behind a bigger dumb bloke and your bike is also fast.....
  13. I had two previous Silverback Nabraska frames, a 2007,2008 model (due to cracks) i have a third frame 2010. I did not have any serious swinging when going without hands. What i did pick up was that if i pedal while loose handing it, the bike does start to go side to side, this I think is due to the centre of gravity now sitting at the top of the bike. So to solve that problem, I do not let go of my handle bars.
  14. .... there is a point in time when "low centre of gravity" turns to "i have fallen and cannot get up".......
  15. Thanks, the name is due to the repeated cracked Silverback frames. My fav brand will remain Silverback, due to the warrantee and willingness to help an injured frame.
  16. Good Day, I have a 2008 Silverback Nebraska hard tail. It is a very light and therefore quite agile MTB. Never had a problem with any of the standard components fitted to the bike. The one problem I do have is the sturdiness of the frame. My frame at the time was 6ft1inch 101kg, the bike is a size L The 2008 frame cracked in 2009. Silverback replaced it with a 2008 frame. In 2010 it cracked again at the same place as before. After signing an indemnity form stating I do not jump from roofs has never done any downhill with the bike, they replaced it with a 2010 model. I do not do any extreme riding, jumping or downhill adventures with the bike. The most riding will be for fun on rocky/dirt roads and sometimes even city riding. Am I just punishing the frame too hard? Or is it prone to happen to these bikes?
