  1. hi guys, some info, I have checked custom clearance codes and there are no import duties payable on bike parts, only complete bikes. Clothing on the other hand, carries a 40% duty. 14% VAT will obviously be charged.

  2. 26" MTB Wheel. 6 bolt Commencal sealed bearing Hub. Nice for Spare/Training wheel. Looking to swop for Light'ish (250g) riser bars, or Light'ish Seat post :-)

I have a 31.6 400m bbb carbon seatpost that ill swap you for?

  3. since you understand the difference between the terms surely you can tell just by looking?

correct, i could, but im not with my bike right now, and im buying a fork right now. does that answer your question?

  4. I understand the difference between the words tapered and straight, what I was in fact asking is why would you choose one over the other, benefits of tapered or straight etc. Sorry, maybe I didnt ask in the right way.

  5. Hi guys, right, no laughing, I understand this maybe be a stupid question but im new to this. Could someone please in easy to understand terms explain to me the difference between a straight and tapered fork / steerer. THanks!

  6. Dont stress about the shabbyjob once it gets here! There are a few guys out here that can do some awesome decals, vinyl_guy for instance. Also, there are 1 or two guys that import directly fromt eh factories in China, re-brand here and sell at a greatly reduced cost, I would be sure to check out the workings with them as well, just some advice as I would be a little "nervous" dealing directly with a person that cant really speak my language.

Also, remember, you are going to pay some import duties when the frame arrives here. So do yourself a favour and factor this into your costing. Int he end, it might actually be a little cheaper to deal with guys on here like CCD and Pornstar, who may have a little more buying power and a relationship with the manufacturers already.

Just some friendly advice, use it, dont use it. Whichever way you decide to go, good luck!

Hi all, there is no duty costs on bike parts landing in SA, you only pay 13 - 15% duties on complete bikes. Bearing in mind you will be charged the 14%VAT, but not duties if it is just the frame.

  7. Hi Guys, a quick one, TT style seatpost bottle cages on a MTB, yes or no? I ride a Spez Epic so only space on the frame for 1 bottle cage. WOuld like to put on a seatpost cage however have been told it makes a hell of a noise off road, anyone care to give me some advice on this, also where is the best place to buy if it is a good option.
