  1. TNT please please explain this to me. What precisely is going on?
  2. with the rack attached to the vehicle it becomes part of it. Attaching any number plate other than which was issued to the vehicle will be illegal. Even with legal documentation for another vehicle the traffic authorities will not understand reason. If the back numberplate on the vehicle can be removed, attach it to the rack with cable ties. Otherwise get a paper number plate from a signage shop. Will not cost you morer than R30-00.
  3. No worries The Dalai Lama said the Pope can use his visa...

  8. Radio rage This morning on the radio, for the first time I heard an ad from the road ministry: or what ever they call themselves these days… the ad tried to convey something to the following: When you are driving in traffic and a taxi is 2 cm off your rear. What do you see? Do you see a taxi driver or the tired woman that left home at 0400 this morning to be at work on time? And the catch fraise: don’t let road rage …. And just there I thought: Bull shark! - Once again they want to shift the responsibility of road accidents. What about the taxi driver and his responsibility to his/her passengers and clients to get them safely to their destination? What about the taxi driver and his/her responsibility to other law abiding road users and their right to reach their destinations safely? What about the taxi driver and his/ her responsibility as a citizen if this country to uphold the local laws? And what is the responsibility of the 12 individuals within the taxi? When they aren’t actively stirring on the taxi driver, they are complacent - can they not open their mouths? I know the ministry will say that they want to inform all road users about road safety and the responsibility of each individual. I say “no”, if you cannot use you common sense by obeying all the relevant rules what the bull shark gives you the right to blame me for your stupidity. So, to the road ministry: buck off you lot of bucking hypocrites!
  9. Ah, in this sense I may be lucky with living were I do. Compacted Renosterveld roads do not have middelmannetjies, like you may have up in Gauteng. Riding the gravel roads and trails of the West Coast National Park or even the numerous farm roads of the West Coast, Swartland and Boland will be enough for me. Is it not that the terrain will dictate the type of vehicle to use? And in using your knowledge of the area you will be able to strategically plan your route with what vehicle is available to you? Taking this into account, a mountain bike type of trike makes a lot of sense to me. It seems to be that my tinkering project for the year will be to build an off-road trike. Only the road versions are available in SA and importing from the USA… A Prado would be cheaper. Thanks to all
  10. Here towards the end of the year I started longing back to my student days when we has organised racing in single speed "quad- cycles". And having 17km of gravel roads in a nature reserve behind the house is motivation for me to get a mountain tricycle. Since it seems that this isn’t available here locally, what about road versions?
  11. were can I go to buy, recumbent trikes or quads in the greater Cape town area.
